Favorite delay pedal?
I'm currently using a Boss DD5. It's a great pedal, but I'd be interested in trying an analog delay to get more "vibe". I seem to remember really liking a Maxon delay. T-Rex Replica seems to be highly regarded, but is extremely pricey. What about the EH Memory Man?

Picked up a Danelectro Dan-Echo on ebay for 30.00, great for slapback, pretty analog sounding. Friend of my has a Line 6 DL4 , does the clean digital thing great, but expensive.

well the Dan-Echo is none-too-shabby for the price of a used one these days
but I really like the Digitech 1002 from the 1980s - it's a blue rectangular box with a "repeat" feature much like an Echoplex.. I've been using the same one for about 12 years now and I picked it up used from my local GC for way less than $50 if I recall correctly?! can't recommend it enough y'all. I even dig the cheap lil' plastic-cased Dan-O slapback for live use as ain't nobody going to be able to tell it's sucking some tone up there!! but I'd take a Roland Space Echo or an Echoplex were I to ever come across a great deal for either..

I might get laughed out of here but the biggest surprise pedal I've got is the Dano mini pb&j delay. I've had it a number of years and its held up well and sounds incredible. The slap back is awesome and the longer delays even more so. It's a very organic delay and I love it. I'm curious about the Boss RE-20 as the space echo is the sound I really like but I don't want the hassle of maintaining one. The pb&j gives an approximation of the space echo sound (very non-digital sounding) on the cheap.

I just picked up a used memory man deluxe for $75 bucks. It's very warm and very very COOL! I owned a DL4 for a short period of time it was really versatile and had tap tempo, but i just didnt have the funds to keep it.

I like my Danelectro 'Reel Echo' pedal. It sounds somehow more 'natural' than my Boss RV3 ( Delay / Reverb ). I use it mainly for 'slapback' echo.

I've been using a Dan Echo for a while and have been *very* happy with it. I decided to try the Line6 Echo Park, and though I haven't had much chance to play with it, it seems pretty danged cool.
I took it to a jam with fellow TDPRI-ers this weekend and those who tried it said that the slapback effect is worth the price alone, and it has so many other different modes that I don't see how you can go wrong. |

First act delay
If you'd asked me a coouple of weeks ago I'd have said a boss dd3, but for sheer value & great tone Im absolutely blown away by the 1st act delay....its warm, it has vibe, & its cheap!Possibly the 2nd best purchase Ive ever made...(the 1st being a tele).
see the thread located a bit further down this page....

For analog, really WARM, "blooming" repeats, I love my Retro-Sonic Analog Delay, 600ms is always enough in my world. For a little clearer, but still warm, vintage sounding, but more in the tape realm, I love my Mad Professor Deep Blue Delay. Fantastic "ambience" type delay. Two fantastic delays, better reliability and sound compared to the Replica, IMHO.

Analog Man
I really like my new AnalogMan AR20DL - nice warm sound, 300ms, although Mike also sells an XL 600ms version. Great with my 5e3 and BF deluxe. They're hard to catch in stock at his online shop, though.

Red Repeat by Carl Martin is affordable, great sounding, mellowish, tape echolike delay.
