praise the dano blt slapecho
hi folks, i am in the process of re-recording some stuff. last week i scored a lilac slapecho for 25 euros new. itīsīhard to believe how useful that little thing is for recording. has exactly that cheap-but-good sound that i need. great for slide and little clean fills with a rockabilly touch. i can imagine that this pedal is not on the radar of many players. if you see one, try it out.

I agree, good little pedal. I use it quite a bit. I also like to use it with my Dano Corned Beef reverb. Nice little set up. Doesn't do a lot, but what it does, it does well.

eeww... HATED the Corned Beef reverb. LOVE the BLT. Surprised at how good the slap is. I probably wouldn't put it on a gigging board unless I was playing all Rockabilly, just not versatile enough. But it does do that one trick very well.
I've heard/read (here) similar great things about the cheap First Act delay pedal.

I used to own a BLT, but I destroyed it trying to do a mod I read about on diystompboxes.com that adds a pot for adjusting the delay time. I replaced it with an Ibanez delay, but it doesn't sound as nice. Nothing does that lo-fi, reverby delay better than the BLT.
I'm thinking about getting another one. Does anyone know if the FAB Echo is the same? |

I'm hessitant to say the Fab Echo is junk, because it can give you useable slap back echo very cheaply. But of the two (imo) the BLT simply sounds better. The Fab echo colors the sound a bit and just sounds "dirtier". If you are into Psychobilly (Frantic Flinstones, The Cramps, Hellbillys) The Fab Echo might be a better choice. Or if slap back isn't a major part of your sound, or not used much then the Fab might work. Personally, I'd say if I had to buy only one, I'd get a Blt. For the price, the BLT is one of the best pedals out there, IMO. However, the FabEcho can be had for like 12 bucks if you shop around, so well worth it as a backup or throw it in your gig bag pedal for when you want to travel light. |

I think the FAB is great. Have both the FAB and the BTL and find them almost indistinguishable, however when I tested both time ago I stuck to the FAB and it's the one I've been using since then...
