Wah for Tele

As a relatively recent convert to the Telecaster (got my first one in December 2005) I'm still trying to find the right wah sound. I'm looking for a vintage sound that isn't too shrill & high-endy.

Here's what I've tried so far:
Original Cry Baby: too trebly and harsh (I had it when I got my Tele)
Vox v847: same problem
Ibanez Weeping Demon: sounded great for shredding, but not capable of vintage sounds - definitely more for modern metal

The Dunlop Jimi Hendrix JH-1 sounds like it might work, as it's designed to emphasize midrange. It cuts off the high highs and low lows.

I feel that you can get great vintage wha's from a Vox v847. The trick (if you can call it that) is to adjust the gear that controls the pot so that when your foot is all the way down there isn't as much treble.
I did this to mine and it can the Voodoo Chile and White Room tones. Maybe try it with your Cry Baby before spending on another one?

I agree with tkingen. Fiddle around with the gear to find the sweet spot in the high end region of the sweep. I have a Jen Double Sound (Vox copy) and did the same, much to my satisfaction.

I'm not very satisfied with my JH-1. It sucks tone and the transition from dark to trebly isn't smooth. I was thinking of getting a warmer sounding wah too when I have some money. The JH-1 sounds harsh to me.

Ah, if only I still had either one of those . . . good advice though.
