i feel like selling my stompboxes...
.....because i have a boss me-50 multieffect-unit in the house. i checked that thing out yesterday for myself under various settings in the rehearsal-place by myself and i can not be more impressed. it works so well with a tube amplifier, it does not make noise, has a cool acoustic simulation and a good wah and a manual-mode. the distortions work good with a loud amp as well. i doublechecke with the similar stompboxes and it keeps up no problem. the distortion+ setting on the boss works better than a real distortion + in my ears. i wonder what happens, when the drummer sets in but i am pretty positive about the me 50. i really have a feeling, that i should sell most of my stompboxes and just keep the three really good ones. that would be a cool "simplify your life"-action.
what do you think? am i nuts? eddie |

You aren't nuts...there are many goldmine combinations (pedals/amps) out there that sound great.
Case in point----I had an old Nady tube overdrive (12AX7) that sounded like a vomiting badger through every amp except my '59 Bassman......then it sounded INCREDIBLE.Now,the other amps were '50s tweeds also.

Keep them in the cupboard perhaps, I have 10 in mine and I'm sure they will come in handy at some point. Also nice to have extra pedals if a friend comes round to jam or you need a particular sound for a recording.

I don't think you're nuts, but I probably am, because I've kept about 85% of the pedals that I've acquired over the years.
Most of them sit in my closet. Some haven't been used in a half a decade or longer. The only ones I let go are those that can't do at least one thing with killer results. I know I'm really certifiable, because I have at least 2 of a few of them! If you're not using them, let 'em go. Unless they are collector's items, you can always pick up another one down the road.
