Mod OD Pedal for more hi cut before distortion
I am in love with my CIJ 62 Custom tele with its original pickups in it.
The cleans are really sparkly and overdrive sounds are really clear and spanky. However my TS-type overdrive doesn't seem to like a signal with too much treble in, something which is easily remedied by rolling off some treble on the guitar. Now I wonder if I could mod the pedal to have this treble cut without having to mess with the guitar tone control everytime I switch. Could I simply install a guitar tone control inside the pedal or a combination of resistor and cap to ground? Thanks and best regards, Harald |

Hi and thanks for the reply.
It actually has bass and treble controls but my feeling is that the tone controls work post-distortion whereas I want a pre dist hi cut i e the same as I get when reducing treble on the guitar. My question is whether or not I could simply duplicate the guitar tone control inside the pedal before the signal enters the circuit. Harald |

You could probably copy your tone control on the guitar at the setting you like by measuring the resistance of the pot wiper (while it's set where you want it) and using the same value cap as on your tone control (duplicating it inside the pedal with a resistor instead of the potentiometer). -That's assuming you have room in there to add anything.
