Conway Twitty Fans? Question about an effect used

The song Boogie Grass Band, near the end, the lead guitar part, what is being used to get that sound. Jerry Reed used to use the same or similiar sound on some of his stuff.

I think what you're hearing is twin and triple guitars. The only effect that I can think of might be a delay or something.

Mebbe some compression too....Boogie Grass Band does sound a bit like East/Westbound and Down with the layered guitars but the Reed guitar stuff IMHO sounds a little more open.

Comp or delay I dont think is what makes that sound, its sorta of that growling, i dont know, maybe it is 2 or 3 guitars over one another, never seen that before. years ago Conway performed that song on TV,didnt pay much attention to the players back then but i didnt think there was that many guitar players playing

A friend of mine played on that record(Charlie Archer,Conway's guitar player)...he used a Dyna-Comp and overdubbed two or three parts(can't remember what he told me)...that's how he did it.
