Can i get slapback from a reverb?

Can i get a nice old rock n roll slap back with reverb pedals?

I wanted a delay pedal for slapback but it seems a waste to get one just for that... while i need a reverb pedal (ive been looking at the holy grail)

Nope, as far as I know, you will have to get a delay/echo unit to get slapback.

Nope, definitely not with the Holy Grail - but there are a few pedals that offer both reverb and delay in one package, like some of the Boss delay units, and maybe one of the Digitech units (not sure).

back in the early 70's, i had a Gretsch amp with two 10" spkrs that had the most amazing reverb of any amp i've ever owned before or since...with the effect (reverb) at about 80% or more it gave a definite slap-back....was there somethin' wrong with it..??...possibly or probably, but it still put out a slap-back with the reverb.....probably, in today's world, a delay pedal is what ya need or an echo-plex or Danalectro reel-echo (my preference, no tape or moving parts, but it has all the sound of the old tape units)...

Boss made an RV3 (?) Reverb/delay. Check ebay.
BTW, I had a DD6 and sold it for a EHX Memory Man. Much better tone and great slapback. Try one..

Well, in the old days, unless you used either spring or plate reverb, reverb was sometimes simulated by using analog delay; also, a delay unit will usually work quite well for giving you a bit more room/dimensionality/mock reverb - but it doesn't work the other way round with either spring, plate, or modern digital reverb units...

as to what that old Gretsch amp had in it...all i know is it was for SURE a slap-back repeat effect as the reverb effect was increased....how it was accomplished i have no idea..but it did it...it...it....!!!!....the amp was one of the cowboy lookin' things; am pretty sure it was intended as a match/set for the Gretsch Round-up solid body my buddy at the time had....snagged the amp from him way back then....and got rid of it in one of many moments of stupidity....but hey....it's what we pickers do.....stupid things.....

Try a Rocktron Short Timer for about sixty bucks for slap-back and old tape delay sounds.
