What fuzz you think?

I am trying to find a fuzz that will put me in the realm of the Redhouse Hendrix tone, and the Crossroads Blues Clapton/Cream tone, but won't break the bank. I'm running into a Black Face '65 super reverb, and have a few different effects, but I use mt modded Tubescreamer the most. I recorded us playing Redhouse a couple of weeks ago with a little hand held recorder, and the record distorted from the level coming in, but the guitar sounded almost heavenly fuzzy, and I want to recreate it live now!!! Does anyone have any ideas of cheaper fuzz pedals(under $100 preferable under $75) I can do used, and I can do self modding if any of you have the perfect combo cheap fuzz with mod. Thanks!

BYOC

A few great fuzz unit kits are offered up by Build Your Own Clone. Big Muff, Fuzz Face, and ToneBender MkII kits are all available. I've built both the big muff and MkII clones and both sound great. the MkII with my tele is pure Zep/Page.

I would say buy a Big Muff. I've been close to buying one many times- there such good value.

Just a thought. The Tonefactor Huckleberry has some great fuzz tones in it and can be found for under a $100 used. I loaned it to a friend at a rehearsal and sat and listened to him doing Crossroads(your target?) with it with a strat and one of those super twin heads. It had some convincing sounds in it while he played. Then he tweaked it and was getting some decent Gilmour/Money tones too.The tone stack can go from fuzz face to big muff so it has a bit of variance to it. It cleans up well with the volume pot, so quite a few shades in between. Might be worth a try.
