Keeley modded Ibanez Tube Screamer. Set for just a bit of grit. Simulates the amp breaking up without losing my hearing. :)

Bad Bob aka Mini-Booster. It makes everything come alive and if you hit it with a hot signal it turns into a sweeeeeet overdrive. You can also buid your own.
The Bad Bob is just the commerical version of this DIY booster. The FatBoost Is also based off the Mini-Booster. http://www.muzique.com/amz/mini.htm |

Barber TonePress.
Excellent (blendable) compressor and/or clean boost in one sweet, solid, toneful and simple pedal. FF.

It would be a toss up between a Delay and a Compressor. One of the two are always on.
Keep the delay. Just gotta have some slap back.

well I just got a Bixonic Expandora original and it's awesome, I haven't even messed with the other settings, don't even know which setting internally it's on. It has the creamy smooth grind I've been longing for....

Hmmm.... very interesting. So many different flavors to choose from. Some part of me thought there wouldn't be so much variation.

... As a supplement to my previous post, where I cited my Barber Tonepress, I have just spent the afternoon playing 50s type stuff, whilst reminising about gigging.
I would therefore now have to +1 to the folks that said a Slap back Delay and/or stomp box tuner. I my case I use a Fender PT 10 tuner and a Danelectro 'Reel Echo'. FF.

I can tune my guitar so the tuner would go away. I like my Keely boast but I can do that with the output on my other pedals. No overdrive comes anywhere close to the sound of a vintage tweed on the edge. The finalist is my Analog Comprossor. I makes a better boost than the Keeley if I choose to use it that way and the compressor sections add more girth and beauty to my tone than any other pedal. With two compression sections I can use the Orange Squeezer for the sparkling sound without an overly squashed attack. If I need more squash on the front and a little less high end the Ross compressor is available. All of this satisfaction is with extremely low amounts of pedal. And like a good pedal it isn't overly clinical sounding. It sounds alive. Yeah I've only had this pedal a few months and the honeymoon is still on. Last rehearsal it was my Comprossor versus the Carl Martin and an old Dynacomp. They all had their thing but I could leave mine on all the time and the others had be shut off and brought in as needed. I would love to try the tone press from what you guys are saying but for now I have a number one pedal.

The brake pedal of my Victory motorcycle...it's really hard to stop without it. I can play guitar without a pedal of any kind & do OK.
