LINE6 POD XT LIVE? anyone?

Anyone used one of these. Want to know what it's like for getting a country tone. Using a '77 tele into a Twin.

I love my Pod XT Live. But if you want a country sound and you're using a Telecaster and a Twin, you're already most of the way there. A Pod is best used with amp that doesn't color the sound, like a keyboard amp or a Crate Powerblock. A Twin has a lot of clean headroom, so it kind of qualifies, but, while a Pod XT Live can handle the job, you're probably better off just getting a few pedals -- compressor, delay, distortion, etc.

The problem with the PodXT Live is that it has an amp simulator that sounds nowhere as good as the real thing.

You'd be better off using effects in front of yourTwin.

Real effects in front of a real Twin will sound better than artificial effects in front of an artifical Twin in front of a real Twin.

I like PodXTs a lot for headphone practice and home recording.

i used a POD for a while in front of a Hot Rod Deluxe, and it sounded great by itself. i just never could get that *big* Tele sound in a live stage mix. of course with a Twin, your mileage may vary!

I have an XT LIVE connected to my PC that I use as a part of my practice system and run it thru headphones. It's incredible as a teaching/practice tool especially when tied into the Line 6 Website.

I also use it strictly for effects on my live rig. I don't use the amp simulator and the effects are very nice and allow me a tremendous amount of flexibility. A real benefit is that I can dime my amp out and then adjust the input volume level to the amp using the line level adjustment on the POD. If something ever happened to my amp onstage, i could plug directly into the PA system and keep going.

I think they are pretty good, especially for blues and rock sounds, but don't cut it for country, i'd just get an analog delay and compressor if i was you.

I have never liked the XT live. Something just wasn't right. I had it explained to me this way--it was not designed for that. It's basically a complicated preamp in front of your amp. I found that it messed with my tube tone. With stompboxes(yes I know they are basically preamps as well) you can set a good clean tone, then set the box from there. With a POD I could never get that to work. And I tried. I owned a POD and both the AX2 and Vetta amps. To me they never sounded as good as the tube amp/pedalboard route.

thanks guys for your help. you've pretty much confirmed what I was thinking. My tele or strat into my twin is just about as country as it gets. I just need to make it a bit more interesting during some songs. I'll put my Phaser-->chrs-->compressor in front of my twin and take it from there.

forget the XT Live crap.
