Your Fave Effect?

Mine is the Leslie rotary speaker. Don Leslie really created something incredible with these! In the early to mid '80s, I had a Leslie Model 825, which was great, but I ended up stupidly selling it. These days, I can at least get a bit of Leslie vibe from my Line 6 Roto Machine pedal. It does a really nice job recreating the classic Leslie swirl. The first time I heard Clapton play one on the "Blind Faith" album, I knew I had to have one. That was in 1981, and I got my Leslie that August for $175! It's an often used effect (brought back into vogue in the early '90s, by tracks like U2's "One". Anyway, the rotary speaker is my fave effect on the electric guitar, what's yours?

Stompers have come and gone, but the only one that has stayed with me is my trusty 20 or so year old ProCo Rat. I'll never give it up.

gotta love my Barber Tone Press. the ability to blend the compressed signal with the original ("dry") signal makes it hugely versatile.

Reverbbbbbbbb.

And some tremolo on those old Slim Harpo songs.

Maybe some slapback....

You can get pretty close to the Leslie sound with a Chorus pedal, if you crank the rate way up.

Same as Tremo here, pretty even
with reverb, tremolo and a little delay.
I use reverb more than the other two.

A friend has a Yamaha unit with a West Coast Surf labeled delay
setting and I really like it a bunch.
I don't really associate the sound quite with the label but
never the less it's a cool effect.

My favorite effect is no effect. I used to use slapback delay or a touch of reverb, but I turned them off lately.

Reverb.

And, on occasion, a little delay, when I wanna be Scotty Moore.

Line 6 Roto Machine or Bad Bob

+1 on the Line 6 Roto Machine....

Canīt say I use it all the time but itīs perfect for (or atleast try to...) playing organ licks when back up others. And I often also turn it on when playing ballads. Just love the Leslie swirl....

Bad Bob Booster must also be counted in. Not much of an effect but it really gives a extra richness to the sound. Guess I can call it: my sound!!

I love my VOX Tonelab SE - lots of cool effects to play with...

But I seem to always dial in a "Tweed 4 x 10" with some plate reverb for some reason

I find myself playing with the analog delay and flanger a bit too. And of course the distortion or compression when the mood strikes.

BTW - there are a few nice tele-made presets on that unit - very fun toy...

I like my old Tube Screamer. It never let me down even once.
I always liked the old Boss Compressor, my old one gave up it's
ghost a long time ago, so i'm looking for a new one.

The only pedal I've been using the last while has been a Maxon OD808 tubescreamer. And it's only used at most 5% of the time...just as a low-gain solo boost.
Otherwise I'm straight in to the amp.

I might be getting a delay pedal soon, but probably it will also be used pretty infrequently and subtly. I've just found that there have been a few instances at gigs recently where I've thought that I needed something and I think a delay might be it.
We'll see.

I would say I like *all* my effects at my disposal if they are within context of the song.... as long as I can get that sound in my head :)

BUT, if we are talking about *most fun* effect -- it's a gotta be the Wah pedal. I mean, who doesn't enjoy squeezing and squishing the sound in time to the music! heh!
