It seems to work real well this way. I just got it but I'm still not sure if this is the right path. I use only single coils and since I got a Big Muff things got pretty noisy. Just curious about your signal path. This might be easier to follow: Guitar NS-2 input Tuner Keeley Fuzz Head Bad Monkey Big Muff Ibanez Phaser From here the signal loops around and back into the retun on the NS-2 From the NS-2 Output it goes to the amp |

My main board is a modded Pedaltrain 2, and I've been very happy with it. I wanted a board for smaller gigs & to try out some new pedals, so I built this one; it ended up being 14"x18.5" overall. It was a fun project, but I think if I was going to do it again, I'd just spend a few more bucks & buy a PT Jr. & put the time I saved into one of my other unfinished projects:

When I first got the pedal I ran everything to the input part because I didn't understand the effects loop that the NS-2 has built in. I then realized it's the effects loop where the noise suppression is taking place! I believe this is the order they are in: To the Input: guitar>wah>phaser>delay>NS-2>volume pedal>amp To the Send of the Effects Loop: NS-2 (send)>compressor>Bad Monkey>distortion>fuzz>EQ>NS-2 (Return) The tuner is connected to the 2nd output of the compressor. Digitech pedals are cool that the have 2 outputs...one goes to the amp the other goes to a mixer because they have built in DI's. But you can run it to the input of your tuner and have it stop there so the tuner isn't directly in the chain...kind of like a detour! I think this is right. Plus the NS-2 has the ability to power other pedals which is a nice bonus. I got mine cheap on eBay...like $25 shipped or something like that. |

just got my board together...
I just picked up a large pedalboard from Rondo music and organized by stomps...
I've got a fender tuner, morley jd-10 , mxr dyna com, mxr smartgate, boss rv-3, and a eurorack ub802 mixer. I run straight to my mixer and powered speakers or house mixer w/o a guitar amp. I can add mics or other inputs as needed. The jd-10 is an awesome preamp that makes it possible to skip the amp. I first had to fix it's radio frequency interference problem (see Is your JD-10 noisy?), but now it's clean of RFI.

I know exactly how you feel. I have a Danelectro Tuna Melt Tremolo pedal in my rig.

Thank you!
The blue LED light bar is something I thought of putting on a pedalboard several years ago after being inspired by seeing cars with underbody neons, LED tubes, etc. When Trailer Trash Pedalboards had a similar idea, I thought, "D'OH! Someone else thought of this too!" I wired the tube up so that I can disconnect a connector powering it. The blue LEDs are bright and really put out a wash of blue light. You can't really see it in the photo, but the Keeley Java Boost is purple, maybe the only purple Java Boost Robert Keeley made? You'll also notice that I changed the footswitches of some of the Maxon pedals. I used Fulltone 3PDTs as I wanted to convert the pedals to true bypass. An Axess Electronics BS-2 is concealed under the pedalboard. As there is no footswitch, there's no need to have it taking up space on top. I also constructed the true bypass boxes for the silver-screw Boss CE-2 and the MXR Flanger/Doubler. I'm not necessarily someone that goes in for Older Is Always Better hype, but the silver screw CE-2 does sound better than later CE-2s. I've had offers to buy it from some players locally. I got that for $30.00 at a local music store where I used to teach guitar... Two of the Maxon overdrives are modified. I installed old '80s-era JRC chips and did a few other small tweaks. The Budda Wah has a "Fat" switch I installed under the treadle. It parallels a cap with the 33k "Q" resistor. I have a Maxon MS-02 Master Switch plugged in at the end that acts as a tuner mute. The Korg tuner is always on and gets its signal from the BS-2. The cable is directional in that it has telescoping shields. It's not easy to see, but the cables have green shrinkwrap on one end where the shield is connected to ground and black at the other end. With the use of the BS-2, true bypass on all effects downstream and the cable, I feel I have come within 98% of having the plugged-straight-in sound with all effects off. Here's the current configuration for mine:
![]() The Pedal board is a Furman SPB-8C Left to Right, well sort of... Line6 MM4, Line6 DL4 (in the effects loop), EH Deluxe Electric Mistress (last in chain before amp preamp input), EH LPB-1 (also in effects loop to compensate for level as needed, sometimes as a lead boost), Keeley 4 knob comp, Boss SD1, Vox V810 Valve overdrive, JMI Mister Crybaby Super. That's all I need for the time being! |

Sure.
There is an usused station on the Budda Wah circuit card for a capacitor that parallels the 33k resistor. (It's the only 33k resistor on the card.) When I was a repair tech back at the store in my old home town, I got to ask one of the guys at Budda about it as I had to call them about some factory-authorized mod to Budda amps. He said that they'd considered putting a cap in that station during development, but then decided against it in production. It's a fairly common modification and one that's easily accomplished and easily reversed. So instead of installing a cap on the card, I thought to run two wires up from the station to a toggle switch. I installed (I think it was) a .015µF capacitor on the switch in order to switch the cap in and out of the circuit. I remember that I had to experiment with the cap value. The more typical value of .01 didn't seem to accomplish much in the way of fattening up the sound. Use a larger value cap and one can get into some really throaty Trower-esque wah sweeps, but there's a disadvantage in that the higher values/lower sweeps severly limit the treble range of the wah. So .015 seemed like a good compromise to me. I've seen wahs with toggles on the side, but I thought it would make more sense to put the toggle underneath the treadle. This way, the toggle won't get knocked about and is protected. Just remember to take your foot off before you stick your finger under there! I've thought of adding an indicator LED. I have some of those UV/purplish LEDs and that might look cool with the wah. Of course, I'd have to install a 3PDT footswitch in order to accomplish this. I prefer the Fulltone switches as they are phenolic and can take more heat than the cheaper blue switches, which if you blink at them, can go bad. I've had one go down on a gig. Not fun. The value of knowing if the wah is on is something I can use... There have been times I've set up and then thought, "Man, WHY does my amp sound so TREBLY???" and it'd be that the wah was left on... |

![]() Boss Metal Zone > EH Holy Stain > MXR Phase 90 > Boss DD-20 GigaDelay All on top of a 3 dollar baking pan powered by a 1 Spot daisy chain I'm planning on getting a pedal tuner, dyna comp, holy grail, and replacing the metal zone with a metal muff w/top boost or maybe a build your clone mouse. Also I'm going to get a PedalTrain PT-2 Last edited by KeepSwinging; May 13th, 2008 at 01:00 AM. |

Brother KeepSwinging,
I love the baking pan! I think it is just sweet!! Seriously, this is a great idea, and is so unique, if it works... hey, stick with it! But don't mind me, I'm into all that weirdness, originality, kitchiness etc. Kindest regards, Ward |
