i use a korg ax1500g and use mainly the comp, dist, delay. Lately ive been thinkin of going to all boss pedals but after a bit of research alot of people on this forum say the me-50 does great boss repros. if i buy the me-50 will my tone be better than with the korg?
I use a fender twin and american tele.

I owned an ME50 for a while and was very impressed with it initially. The problems started though when I found myself constantly hunched over the thing tweaking and diddling the damn knobs trying to get output levels to match so that I could use it on gigs. I used it during several rehearsals but it never made it out to a gig. I think the guys in the band were starting to get annoyed at my constant fiddling with the thing too.

I found that if I used the ME50 without using any of the overdrive settings, I had half a hope in hell of getting it to work at a gig. But then I needed an external OD pedal to make it all work. Now I was back to carrying more than one effects box around and it sort of defeated the purpose of the ME50 in the first place, convenience.

If I were recording, I think the ME50 would do a great job. I don't know how anyone could get a good sound with one on a gig though. I sold it and bought seperate pedals again which all work great together in ways of simplicity and ease that I could never get from the ME50. That was my experience.

i am using boss pedals quite a while playing country and
got attracted too by the me 50 and finally got one this
weekfor a good price incl gigbag and ac adaptor.
last night i was using it at a band rehearsal and didn`t have any problems so far.
it sounds impressingly good and i didn`t have the volume problem.
i am very careful experimenting new stuff at gigs but
i am confident and will try that thing on a show next saturday and see if i can handle it.

yes, the dreaded "Cyberhunch"!

I prefer pedals myself for live playing, but not necessarily all Boss stuff. If you are going pedals, you have the flexibility to use the best pedal in each category. As with all manufactures, they make some good pedals, and some not so good pedals, even Boss.

As far as the "Cyberhunch", I used to play with a BIG Hawaiian guy. When he did the Cyberhunch, it was not a pretty thing...

I, too, like the separate pedals vs. multi-effects. But I agree that going with only Boss pedals might not be the best way to go. I really like the Boss DD3 delay. But if it were me (and it was not too long ago), I'd go with either the MXR dyna comp or the Marshall ED-1 compressor (I bought the latter). I liked the sound of both better than the Boss, but I think the Marshall is a little quieter than the MXR. I seldom use distortion, so I just spent $15 on a Danelectro FAB distortion. It does what I need it to do fine. I actually really like the FAB overdrive that I use. If you're really into distortion, you should give the Visual Sound Jekyll & Hyde a try.

I second this opinion
I really liked some of the tones...
but everytime I switched between the different distortions there would be a volume difference
finally I got rid of it and bought a pedal board and my favorite pedals...it's been wonderfull ever since
I'd never go back to a all in one now

I don't think there's anything wrong with the Korg 1500G or the Boss ME-50. I even used a ME-50 at a church music service for quite some time. But at the time I was using the ME-50, I started to realize that I was only using 3 or 4 individual effects at the most every Sunday.
So I went and bought those certain effect pedals.

Dunno what a bad bob is but, regarding overdrive pedals you might prefer a ts9 or ts808
over the od-3, much of the newer designed boss stuff is okay but not inspiring. The natural mid punch of if the ts pedals are really good with a tele for some fullness. As for analogue delay the ad9 is lovely but not designed for long pink floyd delays, its great for ambiance (al a eric johnson) for lead and snappy slap backs for rhythm.
You need to be more specific as to what style of music you play and give us some tone references.
And Yes rather go the single pedal route, much more tonally satisfying and reliable. If one pedal goes down you take it out of the chain, if your unit dies onstage then you might want to.

thanks winney.ok guys i play in a pro country outfit. I love the paisley overdrive tone, and pete anderson type twang. I want a real nice slapback delay so i dont need a long delay time.redd volks tone is pretty amazing too so im thinking zendrive or sparkle drive ...
will the zen give a nice ford carlton jazz sound with a 335? im lookin really for the ultimate dirt pedal with lots of clarity,i had a sd1 so i dunno if i like midhump od...i bought a behringer comp but i dont really like it ,to plastic .is it possibly to get a paisley/hellecaster honk with that el tube tone with a pedal.i really love how transperant it is clean with a bit of hair ...so keeep the suggestions comin.i really love my amp trem a reverb so im right there.
