looking for a delay
I want something thats got a good range of different sounds maybe with tap tempo and reverse, something thats affordable i dont want to spend £200 on a pedal i use occasionally. It has to be available in the uk, i dont buy from overseas. And must be true bypass this is very important, i dont want to compromise my tone for a stompbox.

Tap tempo AND true bypass? That's going to be a very short list.
If you can go without true bypass, the DD-20 is great. Doesn't color my tone. Lots of delay options including tap.

As said above, tap tempo+true bypass+under 200 is going to be REALLY tough, especially if youre buying new. This is because most delays with tap tempo are digital, and most digital delays are buffered bypass.
That being said, the DD-20 is great, if you can get past the non-true bypass. Also, if you want to save a little cash, a DD-7 with an external tap tempo will save a little money and give you plenty of options as well (tap tempo, reverse, dotted eighths, modulation, and about 40 seconds of looping). It is also buffered but has a great bypass. |

Buying used is a good option, the boss delays will be under $200 used. You may if your lucky find something else floating around. True bypass isn't really a problem unless the pedal is known to suck tone like the Roland re20 for example.

Definately check out ebay. Ive seen deals where you can et a "buy it now" purchase that is a DD-7 and a tap tempo together for about $130. Great deal. |

Search the forum, there's lots of love for the HardWire delay. I'd probably look for a used DD7 because of the external pedal option. I don't like the small stompboxes that use the main switch for multiple things.

The Boss DD-20 is incredible (for a stomp-box delay). If you want REALLY good delay you'll want a rack unit. My dream is to get a rack delay, maybe someday

My favorite delay so far is the MXR Carbon Copy, but that´s just what i need and want from a delay.
For your needs i would recommend the Hardwire Delay or TC Electronics Flashback. |

You will not get better then a VOX DELAY LAB. I bought one last week for the kind of money that you want to spend. I totally love it.

That Vox looks nice, but it's $70 more (or 50% more expensive) than the Flashback, not to mention it looks like it's 3 times as big. Flashback is tap and true bypass like you want, AND in your price range. I love mine. I find it easier to do the tap tempo with the strings, as is done on the Flashback. And it has the Toneprint feature, which is very cool. The Vox is a beautiful pedal, though. I think there are a couple Flashbacks in the TDPRI ads right now...don't know if you'd get them to the UK reasonably.
