Anybody using two overdrive pedals.....

.....One to fatten up your clean tone, the other as your actual overdrive/solo tone?

I've been toying with this idea but haven't jumped in all the way yet. So, if you're doing this: What two pedals do you use? Any things to consider when putting an OD pedal pair in line together? Etc, etc.

I use an OD to dirty my cleans and to bring down my big muff volume. Then turn off the OD to kick big muff up for leads

If you're talking about "stacking" OD pedals, then yes I do exactly that. It doesn't really matter which two OD's you choose as long as you like the sound.

However, here are a couple tips that work for me when stacking:

1. Make sure the Drive (or Gain) knob is set low/medium on both pedals, but not too high, because when you combine them the gain increases exponentially.
2. I recently discovered after doing this for many years, that you should set your Rhythm pedal after your Solo pedal. Therefore when you are kicking on your Solo pedal it is "goosing" your Rhythm pedal. This is similar to goosing the front end of your tube amp with a boost pedal, get it?
3. Choose the Rhythm OD pedal to be more "open" sounding, and choose the Lead pedal to be more of a "mid boost" or "bass cut" pedal, but set at a higher volume.

I currently use a Bluesbreaker clone for my Rhythm sound, and goose it with a Reverend Drivetrain for solos.

Good luck.

I do it all the time with a clean platform amp. Tech 21 Double Drive is my main overdrive pedal, and I boost it with either a Tubescreamer or a Timmy. I think I prefer the Timmy, and it's set to low gain so I can use it as a clean boost, or to boost the Double Drive.

Using a Tech 21 British V1 for my main tone and stacking a Green Screamer on it for leads.

I have my amp clean, one set for low gain rhythm stuff and the for medium gain rhythm, the a have a blues driver set for a cleanish boost to smack either of those for a solo tone

My rhythm OD is always my Keeley SparkleDrive. The lead boost changes with my mood. A short list, Keeley Java,Keeley FuzzHead,Boss OD-3,Keeley BD-2,Joe Bonamassa FuzzFace,Keeley TS-9, or HBE Power Screamer.

I fatten the tone with a fulltone fat boost. I use a tube screamer for rhythm and an SD-1 and a Muff for lead. I also use the Muff for harsh rhythms.

Sorry, got you beat-4 of a kind...

truthfully, no, it's not REALLY 4 overdrives, but it kinda works that way... the order goes SD Pickup Booster>Tubescreamer>Dano CC Drive V1>'86 Rat... the Dano is on most of the time, drive about 9 o'clock, Tubescreamer drive is 8 o'clock, set for a slight boost (it functions as a dirty boost MOL) the Pickup Booster is usually at a minimum (6db) and the Rat is at 10 o'clock on the gain.

How do I use it? The Dano pedal is set for an edge-of-breakup tone, pick softly and it's clean as a bell, dig in and it breaks up... if I want more breakup, the Pickup Booster goes on... if I want some midrange honk with the breakup, it's the tubescreamer instead of the pickup booster... I want rock, the Rat gets kicked on instead of the Dano... for a liquid lead tone, it's the tubescreamer into the Rat... for full on Hendrix squalls of feedback and fuzz, it's all hands on deck and ride the volume knob...

Of course, YMMV...

I basically can do everything I want (I don't need too much concentrated firepower, I just don't play anything very distorted), just using a Boss Blues Driver, a GFS Brownie 'Rat' Clone- separately or together and I'm happy! May get a cheap FF Clone up the road...

I use a Sparkle Drive (set mainly as a clean boost) into an OCD. Really fattens up but stays nice and transparent.

I use a Kelley modded Sparkle Drive and a Keeley Luna Overdrive.... Stacked.
I use my SD after the Luna. I use the Luna for leads.... It kicks the PI$$ out of the SD like a tube amp.... sorta....

I run an OCD at 18v for a base overdrive, and I have a Earthquaker Devices Speaker Cranker in front of it to boost it. I'm not totally happy with the OCD. I think I might swap in something more Fendery like a Black '65.

Yes. I use a Fulltone OCD for the heavier, gainier stuff and a Barber LTD for the low gain stuff. I also use a compressor, and that fattens up the tone pretty well, so the LTD isnt so much to fatten things as to give the sound a little edge and grit.

This. My "open", always on pedal these days is a Barber LTD. I use a Kanji Eternity for leads. I play mostly Gibsons into a 5E3 clone.

I use three as well. I run my amp clean, I use a nobles odr-1 set to slight and I mean very slight break up, then before that i run my ts808 into it, volume at noon gain at 11. this is my main od sound. I like the mid hum the ts808 adds to the nobles and I like the low end boost the nobles gives back to the 808. For solos I have a fulldrive in comp cut for a clean boost. very low od on that and tone almost all the way down. This is my sound into a blackface amp. Ill usually, not always, run a compressor in front with just a bit of compression. I haven't been able to find anything I like better as of right now.

I use 2.5 overdrives.

1. Boss OD-2. Pedestrian, but always works great for lower levels of overdrive. I prefer it to a TS-9.
2. RAT pedal, circa 1982. I bought it new. Mucho crunchy, I use it less than the Boss. Great for heavier distortion, it's a barrel of monkeys.
2.5. My old Deluxe Reverb. It's never quite clean.

Sometimes I run both the Boss and the RAT, but jeez it's just about out of control at that point. If I want things to sizzle like a frying pan, I just kick in a compressor ahead of either distortion pedal.

Visual Sounds Double Trouble...one side I set up for a jazz sound with the tone cut and the bass boost on, the other side set up for a bluesy sound.
