adrenalinn or m9

As you guys can see, I'm looking for a bunch of filter effects and other sounds. Anyone can tell me which one of these units sound better?

Which one can get more sounds, the adrenalinn or m9?

I haven't tried the adrenaline but I own the m9 and it's amazing. Definitely the swiss army knife of pedals.

Another thing to consider: I used to own a Adrenalinn III and I found it to be less than super easy to use. To me it seemed to be more of a piece of recording equipment rather than for live use...

The built in drum machine and sequencer have me really liking the adreanlinn, but the m9 appears to be more user friendly. I think I need to buy bought of these machines.

I had an Adrenalin III and an M9.

The Adrenalin is a cool box but it's really a studio/home toy....not for live use. The sounds are fun but very processed sounding. I'd think of it more like a fun headphone amp than an effect (like a Korg Pandora)

The M9 is more of an effect box. While it does color your tone more than discrete effects, it's a very capable box that works very well. Dialed in properly, the effects can sound good.

For what it's worth, I don't own either anymore....now I'm using an El Capistan and a Flint....they cover lots of sounds and the quality is amazing. Most of those sounds in the Adrenalin and M9 are gimmicks. Of the two, the M9 is good but the sound quality isn't at the same level as many of the discrete effects on the market. As a grab and go mini pedal board to keep in your gig bag..the M9 very adequate.

hmmm I was thought that the adrenalin was used by a bunch of pro artist like brad paisley, green day, john mayer ect. Maybe they used it for only recording? When I went on a youtube clip for the adrenalin is where i seen that.

The M9/13 is getting a fair bit of use in the pro world too - Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins and Thrice have all been using them (off the top of my head) and I'm sure there's plenty of other players outside of my usual noisy rock listening too.

Haven't messed with the Adrenalinn but from what I have read/watched it doesn't look anywhere near as well set up for live use as the M9 is. I think the instant access to a bunch of different effects/tones on the M-series is a big plus for stage use.

Pretty sure the Adrenalinn doesn't have a tap tempo footswitch on board either, so you can't easily sync your filter effects with the song you're playing - the M9 has a dedicated tap switch always available.

Whilst the 'linn has some fun sounds in there, if I wanted something for use primarily on stage, I'd want something that makes it easy for me to get the most out of in a gig environment, and that's the M9 here.

I did not manage to locate a tap tempo switch or even a jack for one on my Adrenalinn III.

If they ever used it live, I'm sure that it was run by their tech off-stage. It makes some cool noises but it's not a "pedal" in any real sense.

The Adrenalinn and the M9 are two different things. The M9 is basically a guitar effects processor where the Adrenalinn is more of a rhythmic device along the lines of the Boss SL20 Slicer.

I have both the Adrenalinn and the M9. The Adrenalinn absolutely has tap tempo. It's true that the Adrenalinn does not lend itself easily to on-the-fly adjustments, and it's not as easy to use live as the M9. But it can be used live - I think those that use it live typically have it preset for a single special effect and they kick it on as needed. It's filter effects are amazing, and it can do things that the M9 can't touch. Plus it locks to and generates MIDI clock, so you can sync it to anything as well as sync other MIDI devices to it. It will also run on a 9vDC adapter...it's pedalboard-friendly

agree with this.

You can also make presets with the adrenalinn to suit the songs on your set list and attach a pedal board

if you are big into filters, you probably don't mind tweaking (and maybe even enjoy it)

I keep my adrenalinn in the car and have used it as my backup amp without issue...

definitely don't agree that it doesn't sound good... the amp sims are awesome on mine... it is my favorite recording box too...

(note I also own an m13 and think highly of it too, but for filters and flexibility, the Roger Linn stuff is really cool.)

I reviewed the Adrenalinn III and my general impressions were that its an incredibly cool device, genre changing and ahead of its time really when you consider when the original was released and now how many tempo synched effects now appear in MFX units. Though for all its strengths, in usage the AdrenaLinn III is kind of stuck between identities. It’s small enough to appeal to pedal boarders who typically don’t embrace amp modeling and digital multi-fx units. However, in that application, the unit is grossly overpowered and a bit expensive. On the other hand, digital guitarists typically want more control out of their all-in-one units than the limited amount here (without an additional MIDI controller) may leave many wanting.

That said, I have the HD500 which includes the M series effects and honestly it doesn't really compare to the Adrenalinn.

Here's a clip including some of the crazy effects you can run with the ADIII.

I love filters and love tweaking them so I think the adrenalinn is going to be the one for me!

The main thing I was looking for from those two devices was some good sound filter type effects. I'm really into drum machines too..

Thanks everyone for there inputs!! I'm going with the adrenalinn and not the line six. Ill report back when I get and learn the adrenalinn.

I've been eyeing up the Adrenalinn 3 for a long time now for many of the same reasons everyone here likes it. I came across this editor program for it that looks like it would make programming & editing the A3 much easier (although not necessarily on the fly live). I have no idea if it works as advertised though, but figured I'd share it:

I just ordered. The Adrenalinn 3 from the roger linn website and got the plug in version for free with the purchase of the pedal. Right now they offer the plug in for free, only from their website. It regularly cost 99 dollars.

Just curious how you're liking the Adrenalinn.

I'm a long time user of the unit LIVE and feel it's very intuitive and easy to use. The beat synced filtered effects really contribute to my live sound.
I feel that Roger Linn is a innovative designer and I'm grateful this box is NOT like Line6 or other more generic stuff.

I really liked it and used it a few times live, but I got rid of it because for some reason I would get a lot of some kind of weird static hissing sound. Even thought the noise was extremely low, I could not deal with it especially since I was going to record with it. I'm kinda upset about it because I really wanted it to work for me.

did you write Roger about it?

I"m sure he would be helpful if you had asked him.

The adrenalinn is an awesome pedal and incredibly inspiring.
The whole sync-to-beat thing is awesome.
The amp models are awesome.
The drum samples are awesome.

Fantastic pedal, I just never found a real-life use for it ....
