A boring, yet essential pedal.

The AB-Y box. I know it's not a pedal that's very interesting to talk about, but I'm in need of a box to send two guitars to one amp without having to mess with cables inbetween songs. I know there are hundreds of options, but any suggestions as far as models/brands?

It's important that it not be noisy, and not color the tone in any noticeable way. But it's also important that it not be expensive. Thanks for your input!

These are good, quiet the times I've used it. Borrowed one for a short gig series needing 2 amps.

Check out StarTouch. Handmade, can be customized and not as pricey as you'd think.

A simple A/B box will suffice for your needs. This one is small and cost 35$. They also have models with leds but you don't really need that since you know which guitar you're playing...

Absolutely LOVE my Startouch. I have zero desire to search for another ABY.

I tried the Switchbalde and it was terribly noisy. Loud pop every time you switch. Also tried a Loopmaster box. Not as much noise, but it wasn't totally quiet.

I tried several others and finally found one that was 100% quite - the Little Lehle. It's a looper/AB box, but they make an ABY amongst other configurations.

The OP does not need to send one guitar to 2 amps but 2 guitars to 1 amp.

I used that pedal which is excellent, no noise and reliable: http://www.tonebone.com/re-bigshot-io.htm

Does Joyo do anything like that?

The one that I posted will do both.

All ABYs do that. They work in either direction.

I prefer it (Morley ABY) for switching guitars using one amp during home practice. On gigs, it will allow silent tuning. Of course, there's always the complaint by some that it will affect (suck) tone from the mix.

If you want to save a few dollars, buy a used pedal.

I would prefer to to skip the AB and only plug in one guitar at a time. The way I move around by the end of the night the 2 guitar cables would look like a large black braided rope.

Good point ! When I need more than one guitar I prefer to use my tuner to mute the signal while I'm just swapping guitars.

thanks

Thank you guys so much for the input. I really like the Startouch pedals idea, and also the Loop-Masters that Nic-O-Caster recommended (especially for the cost).

This is actually what I do now, but it seems a little lengthy and awkward in between songs (feels like there might be a "let-down" of any energy that the previous song might have put into the set). I thought if I could have the other guitar plugged in and ready to go with a stomp of a pedal, I could trim a good 10 seconds or so off of this process. Maybe not

One guitar on a wireless would be nice.

Same here. Leaving a guitar plugged in and sitting on a stand, especially at a gig, is asking for trouble.
