I guess the In/Out jacks on pedals aren't as idiot proof as I thought

I'm teaching my wife to play bass. She tried to connected an EHX Q-Tron while I was out of the room. It wasn't working, then I noticed that it was connected wrong, The IN and OUT were backwards on the pedal. When I told her it was wrong, she said she thought it was logically connected correctly. "How?" I asked. She replied "The sound coming out of the bass goes into the OUT jack on the pedal, and the sound going INTO the amp connects to the IN jack on the pedal"

If I didn't know better she would have made sense

Soundblaster actually made some MIDI gear in the 90's that was labelled that way....

At least there cannot be any explosions/fires/earthquakes/famines caused by such a mistake. :-)

Cool!

My wife tried to learn a few years ago - now, she only doodles with it now and then. If you haven't figured it out....this is actually: "I love my husband so much I'll even try to learn an instrument for him".

Consider yourself a lucky guy for having such an awesome wife.

I got mine an American P-Bass but at 5'3", it was too big for her (duh on my part). Too bad, it was a great bass. I ended up replacing it with a Rondo mini P-Bass. The strings were rough for her newbie fingers. Flatwounds installed - problem solved. It actually sounded pretty darn good and was easy to play. The Rondo is surprisingly well built bass actually. At $115....your lady may find it more comfortable.

Come on!! She loves you enough to learn how to play an instrument for you and that's the solution you come up with?
If you really love her, get her an EB-3 (short scale) with flatwounds on. That's what I have and I can no longer play my Fender Jazz because I probably have your wife's fingers but even less pain tolerance.

LOL!!

She's realllllly picky on a guitar's looks. She can't stand Gretsches, thinks Trussards are hideous, etc. etc. She likes modern guitars (e.g., pointy death metal things). The first bass I showed her was an EB-3 and she hated it.

I'm really happy with my Squier mustang bass. I'm 5'8" or so but I didn't like the P bass neck too much. Bought this on a whim and it's just what I wanted.

I've had a similar experience. A female guitarist in my band could never figure out how to hook up the pedals- I had to set it up for her. I guess some ladies aren't into all the gadgetry surrounding the guitar. Not ALL ladies... But some.

Quirky but beautiful... I was seriously tempted by this one some time ago.

This reminds me of the story of a family we knew many years taking their son to an airport for the first time (his, and theirs), - they followed the signs for "arrivals" instead of "departures". "Well, we were arriving at the airport weren't we, not departing!"

I can't top stories like that from my own experience, but the inputs on my Lab Series L3 amp are arse-about-face from the usual labelling convention. They are marked "Hi" and "Lo", but quirkily that refers to the pickup output of the guitar plugged into them, not their sensitivity. So the "Lo" input is the one with greater gain. No biggie but it does show that some folks think differently from others...

My wife was playing bass in middle school but hasn't picked one up for years. She likes short scale basses and I'm thinking of surprising her with a Mustang.
