That "Vietnam" sound.
You've all heard it! The swampy, sweaty crying tones of the wetlands/Vietnam.
What do you use to recreate this sound ? Right now now im on some tremolo, little reverb and some slap from the TC Flashback, with some steamy onboard overdrive :) I just don't feel that I'm 100% there yet. Somethings missing? |

Take the fuzz tone on "Spirit in the Sky," add a choppy, swampy tremolo and you've got it.

Do you mean CCR kinda sound ? My Fender Custom Vibrolux with the tremolo and reverb on gets close to that swampy tone "to me".

You mean the sound of land mines, choppers and the smell of napalm in the morning?
You can pop a brown paper bag, clap two half coconuts and spill some Kerosene around to that get that effect. INCOMING |

I've got a Hardwire that can reproduce damn near any breakup sound. But I suspect the OPs plea may have more to do with emulating a style than any gear. Any decent guitar and amp combo should be able to pull it off.

I think the OP is trying to describe the CCR/ Hollywood Nam movie sound track sound. I say find the cheeziest fuzz pedal, a tremolo and a Fender amp then experiment.

If you haven't been there, you can't get it. Check out the blind Vietnamese street guitarist on Youtube. I'm too lazy to search the link, but she's a goddess. Has a gal that carries her amp. Wails.
