As a lifelong Hawkwind fan, I really want the Eventide SPACE.

The name of the Fulltone Plimsoul pedal got me right where I live as far as the lead tone I was looking for and then it sounded right on as well, so bonus!

A while back, someone on the forum was selling a pedal called Mr. Sparkle. Simpsons' scholars will get the reference. I should have picked it up. Bonus: Mr. Sparkle's catchphrase was "I'm disrespectful to dirt!"

One of these days, I will probably pick up a Swollen Pickle, not for the name, but for the tone...

Carl Martin "Surf Tremolo". Does the job but it's odd shape takes up a lot of pedal board real-estate.

I don't want one but I can imagine the smiles that would be in evidence in the practice room if I succumbed and bought a Camel Toe or Way Huge Swollen Pickle!!

Way Huge is one of the worst offenders IMO. I almost feel like they're doing a disservice to their pedals by using such ridiculous names.

Not keeping me from buying them though!

NO, but actually names like "mojo" will keep me from buying a pedal.

I want to buy one two, just for the same reason. Even if I would not like it, I would not sell it.

I've never bought a pedal because of it's name but am amused by my Big Muffs, Swollen Pickle, Merkin Fuzz, Hoofs names.

This pedal was named after the famous British gynecologist Fulton Plimsole. His brother who designed the circuitry, thought it a better name then his. His first name was Egbert.

This reminds me that some time ago I seriously considered building a pedal I would have labeled "Talent Booster". It would have been an empty enclosure with input hardwired to the output. The footswitch and 9V battery would activate a small rotating flashlight on top of the pedal.

Mmmmh ... I'd actually have time right now for this project ...

To the topic, I don't remember exactly how many Tech21 pedals I have bought simply because of the name (read buzz). I kept buying and selling them over time, telling me I must be doing something wrong seeing all these raving comments ...
Definitely more than 10 pedals, including 3 original Sansamps that were extremely lucrative moves if not musically.

Shoot, exactly right now I'm eyeing the Sansamp British while I perfectly know it will not deliver. It's really strange

No.

And, like a couple others have mentioned, I avoid signature anything, if the signature appears on the device or instrument. Except I bought a Hank Marvin Strat, used, because it was a good Strat, and I couldn't read the signature on the head stock anyway. I only figured out it was a Marvin after I bought it. Got a good deal on it. Immediately replaced the pickups, pots, switch, jack, bridge, and knobs. Kept the wood and the pickguard.

But otherwise, no.

But it's not illegal, so if the casual consumer doesn't care, then I guess it's irrelevant.
Actually, as a registered professional engineer in 12 states (USA), a number of jurisdictions regulate the title "engineer" and its use. While these firms are hardly harming anyone, it could be - and has been - argued in cases that the firms are practicing engineering without proper certification. Furthermore, a number of states require engineering firms - even one employee firms - to obtain a seperate "corpoprate" registration. Heck, I have to be careful to indicate that I'm a registered Structural Engineer in Utah; but a registered Professional Engineer in Washington licensed in Civil Engineering.

It really couldn't be argued that the pedal manufaturer is harming someone, and frankly, I really don't care about this type of instance. Just like "sanitation engineers" or "domestic engineers".

Anything with "mojo" in there, I stay clear. Can't stand the overuse and I know exactly what type of idiot I am dealing with when that word comes up.
