BBE Free Fuzz

I had a really killer germanium Fuzz Face that I messed up pretty bad, so I'm looking for a replacement Face. The Free Fuzz seems to go for pretty cheap. Does anyone have any experience with it? Can anyone compare it with other Fuzz Face models?

Thanks d00dz.

BBE makes rock solid pedals. The price is right, the construction is solid, and they all sound good to my ears.

+1, it seems like a good pedal. Id say go for it.

Supposed to be a silicon Fuzz Face copy, but I read that if you lift one cap (can't remember which one), it sounds more like an FF. Search for the mod if you get one, I haven't tried it with mine yet, but my initial reaction to the pedal was it wasn't that close to FF sound, maybe with the mod it is better.

I have the Free Fuzz. Its best sounds are with the fuzz dimed, otherwise it doesn't sound that great. It's dynamic; has a Tube Screamer vibe when you turn down your guitar's volume. The big downside is it really doesn't have a lot of output. I found I had to run the volume at 3 o' clock to get any kind of boost.

After buying a Dream Crusher, the Free Fuzz has gone into my backup bin. I'll probably put it on consignment once I have the time.

I had one and I regret that I sold it when I bought a Line 6 M9.

I really regret that I sold the Free Fuzz when I purged some pedals that were not getting frequent use.

I don't use a Fuzz a lot but the Free Fuzz is on my short list of pedals that I want back. They were selling used on eBay for $40-$45 for a while and then they got more expensive.

I like BBE in general. Good pedals.

It may have been my amp and my guitars but I thought the Free Fuzz had tons of fuzzy gain and plenty of volume. Turned all the way up I thought the Fuzz was crazy/fuzzy. Lots of body and retro style.

It's a pretty good fuzz. I've never had a Fuzz Face, so I can't compare. But I thought the Free Fuzz sounded good. I agree with Stratburst that it sounds best with the fuzz turned up, then you can change the character of the fuzz with your guitar volume knob.

Free Fuzz is a nice medium dirt fuzz and sounds great through an overdriven amp. Bear in mind that it is silicon, and not germanium, so there will be differences.
