NPD! OD Bliss!

I took a trip down to Moog today with the intentions of buying a compressor. Unfortunately, nothing there really turned my crack, but one of the guys I know wanted to try out my Timmy, so I brought it along. After going through the 7 compressors he put out for me, we plugged in Timmy for a bit. I was about to take off when he told me to hold on because he had something I HAD to try out. He brought over a matte, distressed grey box that looked like it had been through a war zone. The Fairfield Barbershop OD - made right here in Quebec. I played it for about 20 seconds and decided where my comp money was goin. Easily the sweetest sounding OD I've tried yet. It's hard to describe what it does - it fattens everything up and adds clarity and chime like an EP or Clinch, is as if not more transparent than my Timmy, cleans up perfectly, and has amazing touch response. I was considering selling my Timmy - then I got home with it and plugged them into my Black Pearl together. You can set them up to cascade for some beautiful tones, and you can easily coax some "D", Zenlike tones out of the combo. the EQ'ing of the Timmy, along with it's awesome boost application makes it an awesome compliment to the Barbershop - the Barbershop is on all the time set at a slight hair. I'd highly recommend it.

Nice! I just read through the specs online and it seems like there's some amp-like mojo going on inside that pedal, i.e. the Sag control that reduces voltage to "brown" up the tone. Sounds like a cool concept!
