Why do pedals go from R to L ?/ Why can't I see the light ?

1.) Inputs and outputs should be reversed (L to R is right, R to L is wrong).

2.) On some pedals I have, the "on" light is blocked by the button/switch.

Both of those things bug me...

You can put them in the reverse order on your board. I've never had a pedal where I couldn't see the light. What kind is it?

I would guess that it's because right handed players have the cable coming out of the right hand side of their guitar/body, so with the input on the right, the cable doesn't cross over your playing area at your feet.

I have a Boss CE-3 that has the three knobs in a row, you can't see the light when it's on. But I know when the pedal is on regardless.

Most guitars are right-handed. The lead drops from the guitar on the right side of the pedal and is out of your way when you stomp on them. Otherwise, the lead would go across the pedal and get in your way.

And why do you think the input should go L to R? Seems to me that R to L is the most practical.

It's a bit of a head ****** when you come from looking at the signal chain on a computer where it typically goes left to right...a moment of adjustment is required. I always think it's weird with a floor unit when the guitar input is positioned in a such a way to guarantee that the cable blocks your view of the display. Even more confusing, on Avid's Eleven Rack, the display of virtual pedals also goes left to right...

Ditch all your pedals and plug straight into your amp. Problem solved.

Also, buy a Classic Vibe.

A true bypass looping system and they can be in whatever order you want them to be. Or, you can use angled George L's plugs that fall neatly out of the way, and place them in any order you wish, but there will be lots of cable looping.

As for batteries, any external power supply fixes that problem. A bit of planning does go a real long way.
