What causes my Cry Baby to howl?
I use a five-effect pedal board for our P&W team and I get a mid-range howl when I activate my Dunlop GCB-95 Cry Baby. My pedal chain goes like this:
Guitar > Ernie Ball VP Jr Volume pedal > Moen Uni-Comp > cry baby > ProCo Rat > Danelectro Cool Cat Tremolo > Hard Wire DL-8 delay > Direct Box to board. We use Aviom IEMs and the howling only happens with the distortion OFF (not on) and the wah cocked and in the heel down position. If the Rat is ON, the wah does not howl. The howl is only heard in the IEMs, not the house. Nobody can figure out what the deal is. I tried moving the wah to after the Rat; I took out the compressor; I tried just the wah, but it still howled in the cocked/heel down position. Anybody ever hear of this?

There is no "A" anywhere in Lynyrd Skynyrd.
It's S Q U I E R! Not Squire. Look at your guitar!
