Dyna Comp for clean boost

Diamond Boost / EQ for my mid boost

BD-2 with MHP Galaxie Mod for my dirty boost

6 different combinations of boosted tonal goodness.

I use either a mini booster or a rangemaster with my AC15.

I use an EP Booster with the bright switch off because my Esquire into my AC15 doesn't need any more bright. I like it because it fattens the tone a bit and makes it sound like I switched to the middle position on a normal Tele.

There's that dyna comp again, I have one, are you guys running it at the very end of your chain? I feel like it thins the tone a bit, what kind of settings are you running?

Different boosts for different purposes. For a straight out clean boost I'm fond of the BD-2 Blues Driver or using a compressor and dumping most of the compression on the knob. For a slightly warmer thing, an Xotic EP will do that. I personally use it to match levels between humbuckers and single coils. Also have used an SD-1 Super Overdrive with the cap C6 removed for a fatter more solo-y thing.

For me its the first pedal in the chain, right after my tuner. I keep the sensitivity/compression very low, like 9 oclock, but the output/level is high like 2 to 3 oclock. Its just used as a nice clean boost with very little coloration of my tone... just enough to make it sound oh so sweet, and almost always on.

I'm actually using a Biyang Baby Boom compressor, which is a Dyna Comp clone but better, true bypass, etc.. highly recommended again as a clean boost.

DOD FX10. Nice clean boost doesn't add distortion to the signal (that's what overdrive and distortion boxes are for). Keeps the guitar's tone intact if put in front of a pedal board with a simple its tone control. If you switch from single coil to double coil guitars it does a great job elevating the single coil signal.

I have a MSR Micro Amp on my pedal board. It has one knob, volume. It does not color the sound, just makes it louder. I use it for 'clean' solo notes. Got it from Musicians Friend for around $79.00.

Hi all,
I have used a bunch of stuff - Boss GE-7 ( I have a BCB-6 pedal tray that was my first pedal board and just won't die), MXR Micro amp (does exactly what it says on the tin), SD Pickup Booster (like the Micro amp but with a little tone shaping, mine seemed to have very low noise, which was good). Mainly using the LegendarY tones Time Machine Boost now - expensive, yes. I bought mine used and it was still expensive. BUT I think the mix of the germanium rangemaster style boost with the blend and switchable cap to revoice and the ultraclean-more-clean-gain-than-you-can-shake-a-really-big-stick-at sides is super useful for me, blending it with various overdrives/distortions/fuzzes (the booster goes last) and also using it to batter my amp input, depending on the gig/tune/how I'm feeling at the moment.
I tend to always run my booster after all the drives etc and use it so I can always extract a gooodly volume jump for solos etc, some others here use them before their drive to make their ts-9's work harder etc....as always, YMMV.
Cheers all
Paul

yes it does color the sound, a little bit. Its got a bit of an upper-mids spike and will really bring out the treble in certain situations.

However i like it for that reason.

Plus the one knob is so big you can turn it with your foot if you have to!

Monsterpiece Stud... it's a Klone, and it's fantastic. I got it specifically for a lead boost/clean sound, but I find myself leaving it on more & more because it stacks so well. I'm already thinking I might need a second one...

I use 4...

SD-1 - Gain set very low. Used to add a little punch for shuffle rythms.
FD-2 - Primary dirt sound.
OCD - For when something a little heavier is called for.
BD-2 - Drive set to zero. Used for solo boost.

Bad bob is my favorite, but I also use a GE-7 (Sniper mod) for a cleaner / more sparkly boost.
I've never been able to really make the volume know thing work - but I keep trying and I'm getting closer. I don't think I'd ever give up the Bad Bob though.

I've got a BBE Boosta Grande which I've been using for about 2 years now...love it.

Simple JUST clean 10db boost, true bypass. Worth it

A friend and I are working on a clone of an LPB-1. Haven't had the time to finish it recently though. We'll probably resume building it this summer.

My amp. On my VT50 I have two sounds programmed in side-by-side...the tones are the same, master volumes are same, but the gain volumes are different....one is clean the other is same sound overdriven.

My other amp is a really old Bandit, pretty much same thing. I've been doing that for more years than I can count. I've gotten lots of compliments on my sound (note I didn't say playing but "sound").

That is one of the reasons I like the Micro Amp as well. Plus it sounds great in front of some fuzz pedals, gives them a live wire goose.
