All I ever wanted is...
a good simple looper that I can use in a live setting. Digitech and Boss seem to make good entry level ones, but since I love you guys (you know I do!), I wanted to ask here before buying.
I don't know anything about sample quality or ease of use or anything else, I want something to record a rhythm part and then play a lead part on it. Something that won't make me look like a fool onstage because of its complexity, and something that can take batteries if needed. What should I pick? What should I stay away from? |

i'm looking at loopers too. there's a price drop on a few of the digitech units recently. I don't know what one to get either, but something with a memory card and USB port would make the most sense i'm thinking. For some great videos of someone using the looper on stage LIVE, check out some Phil Keaggy videos on youtube - "true believers" being one of the better examples...
go to a music shop and try some out. i'm 1.6 hours away from one, so it's not convienent. I'm leaning more towards the digitech. there's a used one for sale in the TDPRI classified ads too btw...

I'm thinking about selling my Boomerang + (Plus) because I don't use it all that much and it doesn't fit on my board. That said, its the best pure looping system out there. Everything is laid out perfectly and the controls are intuitive. It doesn't have delays (like the Line 6) but that is a minor issue.

Is a triple-stereo-phantom-powered-XLR-USB-megalooper-with-three-hours-of-memory-in-ninety-nine-banks considered "complicated?"

Check out the Boss RC20 XL. It only has 16 minutes, which is more than enough, and eleven tracks to record onto.
Now that the new Boss loopers have come out, I imagine there are quite a few used ones available, and for probably good prices. I got mine last summer for $120. Oh, and the dual pedal makes things much easier IMO |

I have Boss RC2 Loop Station, Digitech JamMan and Vox Dynamic Looper. Boss RC2 is nice, but IMO needs the additional Stop switch pedal. JamMan is nice, but the size is rather too big for my pedalboard. Dynamic Looper is good, has 2 tracks, additional effect etc, but too big and too complicated for me.
I ended sell the Dynamic Looper, keep the Digitech JamMan in my drawer, and now back to RC2 after bought a T1M Mini Tap Tempo. RC2 and T1M MT are space savers and do what I need for simple loops. Edit: Boss RC2 (and RC3 I think) can be powered by 9v battery.
