EQ pedal without added noise
I had the Boss EQ pedal but it added noise. Are there some EQ pedals that don't? I liked what it did, but the noise was annoying.
Thanks

![]() I don't know if these are still available, but it's a modded Boss EQ called a "Stealth" mod. A lot less noise than the stock. I've had it for years.

I've found some not all Boss pedals are tone-suckers or add some noise.
They like all pedals can be fussy about pedal order and Boss in particular can take a dislike to some other pedals. The trick here is to experiment and only put pedals "on the board" that you actually use regularly. I don't need to use an EQ regularly. I use an Arion EQ, which is a cheapie, does the job well and it has no problems.

I use a Danelectro Fish n Chips, as well as the EHX Knockout Attack EQ. I like the Fish 'n Chips for more things thant the EHX, and its very quiet. Leave the tone sliders at the flat line level and raise the 'level' slider, and you have a boost /OD. The EHX works great with my Teisco and Les Paul and can make my tele sound like a Ric, as well as get it really fat.

I like the paradrive from tech 21. It's a quiet eq pedal with an adjustable mid range frequency knob, and gain knob. Plus the xlr and phantom power don't hurt either.

I have just started using the Homebrew Detox EQ. No noise at all. But it is not a boost. It does a good job of "cleaning up" which is what it is designed for. The treble, mid and bass controls seem very musical and work well for shaping your tone without adding baddness. I like it. I was thinking about the Fromel and Diamond too but this was cheaper, smaller and it is easier to use (mid freq is fixed). I would try one on approval because it is a very subtle effect. I'm keeping mine.

Arion's made some fantastic stuff over the years. nOt everything of course, but some of their offerings sound really good. I may have to try out their eq, my Dano's switch is starting to go after 7 years hard labor.
