I think Maxon's OD-9 is the most accurate representation of a TS9 circuit. Plus it has true bypass switching.

Yeah, the thing is is that I want the 808 sound in a 9 form factor... The 9 sound is too "modern" and "hot" for me. This 30th anniversary has that tone. Also, I prefer non true bypass in TS circuits. It sounds a bit thicker to my ears and I find no tone suck either.

Well I went to GC and looked at the 30th anniv. TS9. This thing just looks so cool when you see one in person. I had to get it. Took it to band practice tonight and it sounded great. This pedal is SOLID, looks and sounds excellent - a keeper for sure.

Glad to hear everyone likes them. As I said I think I'll definitely pick one up next week when I'm near a GC and trade my old TS9. I'm a huge JRC fan and the 808 warm syrupy tone.

I always thought that none of the TS9 style pedals with the big wide switch were true bypass. There is a space under the name plate that is an empty void and Keeley and Analogman use that space to install their switch that is true bypass.

I have a Keeley Baked Mod TS9.......I think that the pedal requires a new swicth to be true bypass. This is true bypass.....

Can you make my Tube Screamer true bypass??

In order to make an Ibanez, Boss or other electronically- switched pedal true bypass, you need to drill a hole on top and mount a standard round metal stomp switch. On the TS9 there is already a small hole under the plaque on top, and there is just enough room for a switch. The TS-808 reissue is easier as we can use the stock switch hole. We also need to hot-wire the circuit so it is always ON. Mounting the switch is very time consuming and messy. We do offer true bypass on a TS9 or TS808 now for $40 along with one of our 808 mods, or $50 as a standalone mod.

Maxon's 9 series is true bypass. That said, the Ibanez is buffered and not true bypass.

LOVE it! Best TS type I've tried. Clear yet fat, increased bass, and increased harmonics. I love, love, love it... It is so much better with that JRC chip.

Yeah, but a GT-OD is a great sounding OD! Can't say anything about it's comparison to the new 30th Anniv. TS-9, but I think the GT-OD sounds better than a stock TS-9. Just more or everything (Gain/Tone control)- just IMO

I'm still deeply in love with my 30th Anniversary TS9. I've owned and tried TONS of TS types as I'm a true Tubescreamer fanatic/geek- this one takes the cake. Clear yet fat, articulate with note definition and bloom, smooth but not muddy, and very dynamic and touch sensitive and sustain for days.

I'd love to get another but I just can't afford to right now.

For the people that ask, yes they are made in Japan And I'm not positive but I am pretty sure they are NOT true bypass. With that said it seems the buffer is good on them And I didn't notice any tone suck at all with the pedal off
It says "Made in Japan" on the back?. I'm surprised about that, all of the recent Ibanez stuff has been made in China I believe since they stopped having Maxon build them. Maybe they went back to Maxon for this one pedal.

My standard TS9 reissue is Japanese.

^ Maxon (Japan) made the TS-9 reissue through 2002, but I guess it is possible that Ibanez has their own shop in Japan to make them as well.
