What pedals should I get?

I just got my first American standard tele the other day. Ive been playing for about 8 years, but I'm just now starting to get into pedals/ effects. Lately I've been playing mostly country/ pop (Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, Taylor Swift, etc.) and I want to start putting together my rig, but I'm inexperienced when it comes to pedals. I know I would like to have a distortion pedal, a reverb, etc. Any suggestions regarding specific pedals to try to capture the sound of what I've been playing lately would really help. I don't have very much money to spend, so I'd like to keep it around $150 or less for individual pedals.
Thanks

Wampler pedals do a signature Brad Paisley overdrive. Not the cheapest, but very good quality.

He uses a "Way Huge" Aquapuss delay too, set to slap back...

Overdrive and delay are the two main effects you need to get towards that tone. That and a compressor. For a compressor I'd recommend a Rothwell Love Squeeze. Very transparent.

Don't use pedals. Just get a good amp and some big strings and go for it.

the old standards to get in that ball park I think would be the boss cs-3 compressor, dd-3 delay, and the vood labs sparkle drive

they all fall under your price limit and are excellent pedals, lots of guys still use em, yes there are more expensive pedals such as the wampler stuff, but this stuff will sound great 2, I actually got rid of my piasley drive and kept my old kelley modded sparkle drive

With the artists you're talking about I think the most important pedals for you would be a nice overdrive pedal, a compressor, and a delay. There's lots of good options for all of those out there, I'm a huge fan of the visual sound route 66 personally. It's got a compressor and a nice sounding overdrive in one pedal for a good price. Like I said though, there's lots of good stuff out, have fun looking!

I like what I've seen on the visual sound route 66. Thanks!
Can anyone recommend a low budget, but still good quality delay pedal to go with it?

Start with your set list, the songs you want to play, and decide if you need a pedal to play that song. Wash, rinse, repeat.

So if you can play the first song with just your guitar and amp, you don't need a pedal. If the next song requires delay, then you need a delay.

I bought pedals because I thought that was the required thing to do. I went to the forums, I made my list, I assembled my pedal board. But I did all of that without thinking about music or songs. I still use my board regularly but the number of pedals I have has decreased. But I also play a lot of music in bands at gigs with just guitar & amp.

I use a Korg PB tuner, VS Rt66, WH Swollen Pickle, MXR CC into a Blues Jr. Love it and very versatile.

I am happy with a minimal amount of pedals. My essentials are: tuner> OD> tremolo> reverb. For me the most useful pedal is a good OD. Set your amp to a good setting & let the OD do the work.

If there's any guitar that can do this, it's a Tele. Even with 10s (though the 12s sound awfully nice). When I set mine straight through the clean channel of my Boogie Mark IIB, it just sails. Great sound!

However: I do like effects. If you're going that route, I'm with most others, here. Go for Compressor/OD/Delay.

Not sure, though...did you say you were looking for a reverb pedal, too? What's the amp you're playing through? No reverb? If you need that, I'd put that ahead of buying a delay. Nothing's a MUST...but reverb comes pretty close unless you play loud (natural reverb) all the time, imho.

A cheaper alternative for combining reverb/delay would be a used Boss RV-3. A friend of mine plays a Tele through an old '50s Fender amp. No reverb. His setup is Keeley Compressor/Boss Tremolo/Boss RV-3. He's a big time Tele player and the RV-3 is always on.

Cheaper delay could be a used Boss DD-3 or a new DD-7. They're workhorses. That Aquapuss Delay, mentioned earlier, is a nice one, too.

There are so many great pedals out there, now. And you don't have to pay huge bucks for good value. That Route 66 is a good deal, because of the added compressor. I liked this selection, earlier:

Catalinbread CB30
-Maxon OD-808
-MXR Carbon Copy

One word of caution: you'll be tempted to go for the cheaper versions on-line, but there are a lot of pirates out there, now, who are putting out counterfeits. Many are based in China and Russia. It's a big deal for US makers. If you can, I'd advise buying locally or from a retail store you're familiar with.

I've checked out Brads pedal board, and Brent Masons, and they both run a Boss 7-band EQ, no matter what, run through an EQ

I've had the CS-3 for years. Solid pedal to begin with. I got it modded by Mark Humphrey, last year and like it even more, now. Quieter and better tonal range. Smoother. Sparkle Drive's a really fine stock pedal, too. As with the CS-3, the Keeley mod makes it even better. These are really nice less expensive pedals.

These are tried and true favorites and cover a lot of ground! Very hard to improve on this suggestion to get started. These will like be pedals that never leave your board!

a tuner will be a good friend - i like the Korg, but the Boss tuner is a classic also or you may want to check out the TC Electronics Polytune

compressor pedals are a good idea for country - the Boss CS3 is good, a lot of people like the Barber Tone Press or the compressor/OD combo of the Visual Sound Route 66

overdrive...must have overdrive! - Fulldrive 2's are everywhere because they're versatile and sound good, OCD's are nice too but tend toward the "rock" side of things, on the cheap the Bad Monkey's sound way better than they should for $30

delay - not a necessity but they are fun - Ibanez DE7's are good and reliable and can be had for pretty cheap (comparatively) as an entry into the delay scene, Boss has some really decent delays also (and like most Boss pedals, they're near indestructible), then you have the Boss DD20 or Line6 DL4 if you want lots of delay and from there you can go as expensive as you want

reverb - if your amp has good reverb, great...if not get yourself a TC Hall of Fame reverb pedal

Hope this helps.

I like tuners, but i went smaller when I set up my new board and decided to go with a clipon so I'd have more space on the board. Keep it clipped to the amp handle and grab it when necessary. Didn't take long to get used to.
