MXR Custom Badass Modified Overdrive
Stupid name, great sound. A TS clone basically with 100hz knob to dial in bass. Really makes the pedal. Tone control is also excellent. Has a boost button, but don't use it that much. Lots of gain on tap, but works as an-almost clean boost as well.

That's button actually boosts the low mids specifically. I've got one - very nice take of the TS circuit. Pairs well with the Bad Ass '78 Distortion (a Distortion + mod), fancy that.

I like it! It's a great pedal. The '78 is a DS-1 modified though, not a D+ or a RAT (I've heard people say all three). It was reverse engineered to be a Keeley modified BOSS DS-1 with a couple small changes (probably to keep from being sued!). I use both pedals ('78 and Modified) on my board.

Head to head I liked the 78 better compared to the Hyde side of the J&H. Tonally they are both similar, but the 78 has a more open sound.

I finally had a chance to try one yesterday.
Dumb name, i mean really dumb. But as much as I've grown tired of the TS sound, I really liked the BA OD. It seems that Dunlop\MXR managed to keep everything cool about the TS, and eliminate everything that makes a TS get under my skin. |

I've owned the '78 Distortion for over a year now and loved it. Immediately sold my RAT and older Dist + pedals. Thought I'd give the Modified O.D. a try. LOVE IT! It will now replace my Way Huge Green Rhino (see ebay for this one!!).
So impressed. YEs, it's a TS type circuit but it's got something I can't seem to put my finger on. It's got loads of touch and this sound that is just better than any TS/green box I've ever owned. It works so great with the '78 Distortion too. they are a perfect pair!

Whats wrong with the name? I like MXR pedals, should test drive this one but got the TS sound covered. I have their Carbon Copy delay and Micro Amp boost pedal they are both great pedals!
