OD for Fender TRRI

I've had my TRRI for a few months now and I'm still loving it. Can't beat that Fender clean. Now I'm looking for the right OD pedal(s) to work with it. Currently all I have is an Ibanez TS9 Tubescreamer left over from my old rig for gain, and it is not cutting it with the TRRI.

I'm pretty much sold on the Wampler Paisley for a dirty Tele tone, but I'm wondering how dirty can it get and still sound good with the TRRI? I'd like to be able to get classic rock tones like say AC/DC with my set-up so any input on if the Paisley can do that or a push in the right direction as far as other OD pedals would be much appreciated.

I think my solution may end up being a combo of a few different OD pedals and just layering them in the right way.

For Ac/dc type crunch, or similar, something like a good boost can get you there. I use an MXR Micro Amp to get a little hair of the dog on there, and I also understand that Bad Bob Boost and Seymour Duncan's Pickup boost work great, too. If you are set on an OD, I was just recommended by two people who's sound opinion I value, that the Sparkledrive gets great results. I will probably be trying one out this week.

Carl Martin Plexitone or the Wampler plexidrive will turn your TRRI into the Marshall you want.

with my Twin I'm very happy using a Boss Blues Driver-2 with the Machine Head Pedal's Galaxie Mod. Highly recommended.

Boss OD-3

"OD-3: nice full lowend, smooth treble (for a boss) excellent thru the whole gain range. can do the gritty low gain thing all the way up to classic rock. Boss's finest OD pedal by far. Consider this the pedal the BD-2 wishes it was. Refined BD-2, with single FET array, improved simplified tone filtering, and more streamlined use of op amp in the circuit itself, but still relies on clipping diodes. At least Boss finally figured out how to get FET's to run a 9VDC on this one."

Thanks to those that offered the review, and comparisons!

Ever tried a RAT? Not subtle, but fun. It's got plenty more gain and distortion then a TS. I pretty much only use old Fenders with reverb. They love the classics, Muff, RAT, etc. I didn't like my SD-1 with my amps until I heavily modded it into a lower distortion kinda boost/OD thing, but with a Twin you'll probably be creating too much volume with that kind of pedal.

Thanks for all the recommendations, guys. I think I'm gonna end up going with the Paisley Drive to get a solid clean with some hair on it tone, and then see how much more gain I can get out of it - from what I've read/heard is it can get pretty gainy. I've also tinkered with my TS9 a bit more and it's not bad.

I'm also GASing for a Plexidrive now - that thing sounds awesome. Just don't need it at the moment!

Anyone use the Sparkle Drive in combination with the Paisley Drive? Or is that redundant? I guess I'm thinking of using the Sparkle as a clean boost, and the Paisley to really push it.

Stacking OD's Fuzz or Boosts are not redundant, its a hell of a lot of fun. You get al sorts of wierd/cool/unique harmonic and noise artifacts. Much more than just a blend, you get the "third man" effect.

The Radial Tonebone Plexitube is a great Marshall in a box, seems like it plays nicely with clean amps. The new MXR Badass Distortion and Overdrive pedals are also pretty slick, and you could cascade them for a really full distortion.
