NPD: How did I do?

Stopped into GC on an extended lunch break and the used pedal case was calling out to me. I'm a pretty simple guy when it comes to pedals. I don't need much, but I have been looking for a good fuzz pedal that didn't cost an arm and a leg. Seems like all the good fuzz pedals are $100+. I look into the case, and a Voodoo Labs Superfuzz is staring me face and flashing its $59 price tag at me. Long story short, I plugged it in to a Super Reverb RI, grabbed a sweet Tele with HB in the neck, and went to town. I walked out with the pedal 20 mins later. Can't wait to really dig in when I get home, but I was loving the tones instore. I think I did well.

Sweet deal. I'm not a big fan of fuzz, but I know what those go for. Wish I could walk in GC and find a voodoo lab pedal power for $80. That would be nice, but I'll just have to save up some money.

That's a fair amount less than what used ones go for on eBay. I'd say you did good.

Really liked that pedal, but sold it. A little big, and not really a fuzzy fuzz, but it was a cool distortion tone. It's a Jordan Bosstone at heart with some added controls, IIRC.

Good score! grats!

You HAD to snap that up at $59! I would have, and I already own one! I think it's one of the best fuzz pedals out there--very usable range of sounds although it doesn't do that hornet's nest '60s garage sound.

Heads up... fuzz pedals ARE addictive. If you weren't a big pedal user before, congratulations. You went straight to the "gateway" pedal.

Funny you should say that. My previous fuzz pedals include EHX Muff & Double Muff. I really like them a lot, but I always miss having separate knobs for volume & fuzz. Now I've got two more on top of those. I didn't get a chance to run it through it's paces tonight, but you can bet it's gonna happen tomorrow!

WOW! What an amazing pedal. So versatile, and responsive. Great, particularly when working with the guitar's volume. There is plenty of fuzz on tap, but not a lot if that's all you want. Very natural sounding too.

I had that pedal for about 5 years, never liked it. Then I bought a Keeley FuzzHead and sold the VooDoo Lab the next day. Good luck.

I think Keeley calling the FuzzHead a fuzz is kind of a misnomer. The Superfuzz is a fuzz through and through. It is far more useful.

Voodoo SuperFuzz for $60 sounds like a cool deal.

That's strange how people are claiming the voodoo labs super fuzz isn't a real buzzy fuzz. I was under the impression that it was buzzy since its was claimed that it can get that "wheels" buzz tone.

OP - you got a great deal! I love my Superfuzz - it's on my surf/instro pedal board 24/7.

I had one for 5 years and it is NOT fuzzy at all. That's why I sold it and got a much better "Not Fuzzy" fuzz pedal...a Keeley FuzzHead.

Well, it's a fuzz, not an overdrive or distortion, but it's not as nasty as an Ashbass FuzzBrite or Univox Super Fuzz, for example.

Two different circuits. The Ashbass is a copy of the Mosrite FuzzRite and the Univox has an octave effect.

I got the ibanez stand fuzz which is very similar to a univox super fuzz but more nasty. I really like my ibanez standard fuzz and my Fy-2 for buzz. If any body knows of a more vintage buzzy fuzz circuit lets hear your opinions. Roland?
