If you're looking for cheap behringer chorus orchestra. Useless as a mono effect but plug it into 2 amps and it really comes alive. Lots of volume drop though, not really usefull to turn on/off during a song but really nice if you don't have too.

I had a Carl Martin Chorus X II and it is the best sounding I have heard. The downside is the size and the AC cord make it harder to deal with (though I'm sure the AC power is necessary for such a high fidelity piece). I sold mine when I downsized my pedal board.
I am now using a Maxon CS9-Pro that I like a lot. True bypass, analog chorus, sounds really good to me (not as hi fi as the Carl Martin, though). The best thing about this is the Blend control, so you can add a touch of chorus only. When I use chorus it is so slight that it is hard to tell it's on. With the blend control fully counterclockwise there is NO effect on the tone, so you can tell it is very transparent. These are around $250 new but can be had on ebay where I got mine for $100-110 making them a great value used. |

As they have the same exact controls I'd like to A/B the CE-5 against the MXR Analog Chorus for kicks; bet the MXR sounds richer.

Chorus has been out of fashion so long, I'm guessing it's on the way back. Just waiting for that one guitarist/song/sound....

I tend to prefer tremolo effects, but thought a chorus might be cool for some tones. Peter |

So what is the warmest boss ce2 sound chorus available today? Don't care about the price.

If you have 200 to spend and room on your board, a Line 6 M5 gets you all the chorus you could ever use plus every other effect you can imagine. True bypass when not in use. I sold mine but now wish I had kept it.

Certain flanger's, (I will keep which ones a secret) rate have a long range extreme from jet planes to spinning speaker effect. So yes a flanger can sound just like a chorus. As long as the rate goes fast enough, it can do slow and fast chorus. Plus the feedback on the flanger adds warble ness or weirdness.
