Danelectro Cool Cat Pedals
Anyone ever use one? They aren't expensive, and they seem to create a decent sound. Do they get pushed aside as incompetent like their guitars? I kinda dig the tones from the Metal II and the Tremelo pedals. Thoughts?

I have:
Drive v.1 Distortion Transparent OD v.1 Tremolo Vibe The tremolo lives on my surf/instrumental pedalboard; the distortion is always on my regular board. I found the Vibe a bit noisy. The Transparent OD is great, but it's edged out in day to day use by my Sparkle Drive. The Drive is a really good sounding pedal, but one OD and a distortion is all I really need on my board. |

I have the Fuzz and Metal pedals, both version 1. Great pedals that just happen to be cheap.

I have a Cool Cat FAB Slapback Echo, a Daddy-O Overdrive, and a Danelectro '56 guitar. The pedals are great and exceptional value for money. The guitar is great, too, only problem being that the tuning stability is not perfect, so I may change the machine heads. Danelectro gear is generally excellent.

TOD v.1
Fuzz v.1 My only issue with them is the horrible knob placement...

My feeling is that the CoolCats get a lot of love here on the forum. I have the Vibe and like it. Not a fan of the case design (size, knob placement, looks, etc...), but that's not a deal-breaker. I may try to re-house my Vibe one day.

I have the TOD v2. Fantastic pedal, I mostly use it for a boost. Occasionally, I do run it in jfet mode to add some nice dirt to my clean sound. It is very transparent, doesn't seem to color my tone at all. It plays very nicely with my old tube amp and pairs great with my other dirt pedals. It's well built, solid metal enclosure. As many others have stated, the knobs are a pain. I have not touched the bass knob since originally set it... to much of a hassle. Definitely a fantastic pedal for the price.

I think the entire Danelectro line has exceptional value for the money. Overdrives and Distortions are so varied that it is a matter of listening to any given pedal to decide if it's your taste or not, but I think they're nice for the $$.
I have the Cool Cat Vibe and the Chicken Salad - two very similar (but slightly different) Uni-vibe effects. I have also in the past owned the Transparent Overdrive and the silver pedal (I think it was called Overdrive?) They all performed very well. |

^ I'm talking a shootout I did between a Tim, two TOD V1s and a TOD V2. I had a Timmy before replacing it with the Tim.
Tim easily the most refined. Dano TOD V1 held its ground, even better than the Tim for certain things - it has a more aggressive midrange. V2, try as I may with all dip switch settings always sounded grainy and splatty by comparison. Its significantly brighter than V1, and works better as a straight clean boost as it doesn't shave off your high end - but there is something plasticky and artificial about its brightness that grates me. Tim took a hit at a gig (my bad) and somethings gone awry inside - need to get it fixed - but the V1 is standing in like a champ, and then some. |

I also don't dig the Danelectro V2 so I purchased 'again' the V1 (I gave the other one to a friend which was a mistake :))
The Transparent Overdrive's also great! As well as the Chorus and Fuzz V1
