Loop pedal suggestions?

I'm looking for a decent looper under 200 dollars.... Any one know of any good ones? I've checked out the digitech jam man solo, does anyone have any experience with that?

I have also thought about this. But I don't have a lot of electronics experience. Do you think this would be too tough for an amateur? And would it be cost effective?

I think that would be a VERY tough project. I'm working on a microcontroller based effects box right now. It has been annoying, and I'm an electrical engineer, so in theory I should know what I'm doing...LOL!

Generally, DIY projects are not cost effective when you consider the money and time spent. However, by no means don't ever let that stop you!! You can learn a lot, they are fun, and you can have something that does what no commercially available product can. I do think this particular one would be better for an advanced electronics hobbyist though.

I've had luck picking up used loopers for $100 at local music stores. I got the Line 6 JM4 and the Boss RC20 for that price. Both of those have been fine for quickly laying down a guitar track and then practicing leads. Also good for practicing harmony singing since they both have microphone inputs.

For straight up looping and storing backing tracks the Jamman series is great. Buy used for a better deal. On the flip side the Zoom G3 has a great 40 sec looper synced to it's internal drum machine. It's the only looper I know of with a progress bar on the display as a visual aid. And it's the cheapest looper with a synchronized rhythm machine.

I used the G3 looper on the following songs in my soundcloud link...

Some Bird
Baldwin Park
Orange Chimera
Outta Town
Dark Wave

Boss RC3 only true stereo looper out there in its price range. It holds 3 hours of loops right on the pedal in 99 presets, best bang for ur buck looper out there. If you dont need the two footswitches to change loops in the middle of songs it should be fine for all your looping needs.....

I got the Boss RC-3 last weekend. So far (and I haven't spent too much time with it), I have found it pretty difficult to figure out how to use. The instruction manual isn't very helpful. I understand it's a pretty powerful tool if you know how to use it but no luck for me so far.

you may score an old boomerang plus for 2 bills... the akai headrush and the rang are both drop dead easy to use and awesome loopers.. if you want to create on the fly loops. if you want saved/pre-recorded... accompaniment they aren't what your looking for..that's called a band :-)

search ebay for boomerang sampler and see what pops up.. the old ones (pre 3) can be had on the cheap
