VS Garage Tone Delay
I'm thinking about adding a delay pedal to my board but don't have a lot to spend right now. Both DeltaLab and Rogue seem a bit too cheap (price and quality), Carbon Copy and Aqua Puss are a bit more than I want to spend.
Is the VS Garage Tone Pedal a good compromise between the extremes of digital and analog as well as price? I'm just looking for a little slap back and thickening of my tone. Also, any love for the Modtone delay?

I know how good the CC is - I played thru one of the early models once. But it ain't gonna happen right now. So...
Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about the VS delay, given that it is a digital/analog hybrid and priced for my wallet? Videos appear to be warmer and more natural than Modtone and EH Memory Toy.

The VS, works really well for what I use it for; Rockabilly slapback, the occasional chicken picking slapback, and quasi Edge-wannabe repeating Delays. It's quiet, warm, what can I say...it works!! Y'know how a DD-3's delays are great but sounds digital??? The VS can get a lot of those sounds, but w/o the bad digital aftertaste. It's simple, inexpensive, and easy to dial in. The housing "is" kinda big, and takes up more space than the MXR CC,for example.

Find a Belcat...it's great. They are the OEM for Modtone...and Rogue...nice delay...nice price...I should have a few video demos on youtube.

I had the VS for a brief trial period. It was very good, but I tested it against a $15 Dano Fab Echo. The Fab got the same (VERY) subtle, almost reverb sound I was looking for, so I returned the VS. I was very short on money and wanted to get an extremely mild ambience and there wasn't a need for me to keep a $70 pedal when the $15 one did it. That said, I wish I had the VS because the other delay sounds were very good. I was able to get some cool delay sounds that I will eventually want to incorporate into my playing. When funds get built back up, I'll probably get the VS instead of more expensive ones. It does what I want and it sounded very good. QUIET. If you buy one without trying it, you won't have any reason for skepticism in my opinion. I just couldn't afford to keep it, otherwise I'd be loving it right now.

Another very affordable delay that will do it all is the Danecho. Great delay. I've tried a bunch and I always keep it around. Great slapback and it does the longer delays as well.

Hey Joe, (sorry couldn't resist). Just spotted a CC in GC used gear for $79.99. Thought that may confuse you even farther. Hope it helps.

I recon the best value "budget" delay is the Ibanez Tone Lok DE7 at around £70

Nice clips, schenkadere. The Belcat does sound nice. Is it quiet? The price sure is right (cheaper than Modtone, which is also made by Belcat!).

Update...
I managed to sell an OD pedal this week, adding enough to my cash stash to pop for the Carbon Copy.
