76 MXR dyna comp reissue

Who's using a 76 Mxr Dyna Comp script reissue? What do you like and dislike about it? How are you using it? Settings? I was thinking of using it for a clean boost with a touch of compression...is anyone else using it for this? I'm using it with a blackface super reverb.

I would instead get the Whirlwind Rochester Series Red Box, designed by a guy from the original MXR company. It has the script DC circuit, but has an LED and true bypass. I have all three of the Rochester "Box" series pedals, and I'd take them over the Dunlop MXR counterparts any day. I got mine mint in the box with papers for around $80 as I recall from Ebay.

I have one modded by Analogman. Best compression there is IMO.

I also have one modded by Analogman (true bypass, led, and power jack) I also have a 78 block front, script back. The two sound identical. Great pedals. I keep it on most of the time.

The Whirlwind Red Box is just as good, and already has those "mods" you have to pay extra for. The Whirlwind pedal is basically a "real" MXR with modern updates (LED, TB) while the Dunlop one is basically a copy. The Whirlwind was made by a guy from the original MXR company.

I loved the premise, but I was bummed about no AC adapter. Everything I have is tucked away in a pedalboard and powered by Voodoo Labs gear. I tried one and it was very good though. I was able to get some very Pink Floydish tones out of it.

I can't speak for the re-issues, but I have a late 70's Dynacomp with no AC adaptor. The batteries last forever, and it is first in my pedal chain, so when I unplug my guitar there is no battery drain. AC would be nice, but it shouldn't be a deal breaker.

Thanks Mr.plank,(re:forever)I have been looking at 1 of these out my way for quite some time and initially was turned off due to battery life.
I don't mind using batteries, but if they go through them like "you know what through a goose" it's not gonna work for me.
Off for a testdrive tommorow!!.K
