Power

Hey, I'm updating my rig and don't really understand the various powering devices out there.

For example there's all these daisy chain devices for connecting multiple pedals in a loop and assuming all your pedals took the same power then you can keep chaining to plug them all in that way.

That's like $15 + £7.50 or so for each 5 pedals in cabling.

Then there's something like the VL Pedal Power 2+ which is £150, so around $240. And that actually only has 8 outputs.

What's the point therefore of the expensive power devices or should one just get one of the cheaper ones?

Can someone please explain the power debate! Ta!

own a vl pedal power and a couple of one spots.

the one spots win.

cheaper, durable, smaller.

need to sell off my vl at some point... but, I need to track down all the specialty cables first. much hoodoo in that voodoo for me. (and I dig VL stuff)

I disagree with @getbent. Spend the money and buy the VL Pedal Power 2+. It's the industry standard, and I've heard of too many people who have hum/noise problems with their One Spot. Daisy chains link all the pedals together, where as a power supply with isolated outputs (like the VL PP2+, or the T-Rex stuff), isolates the power to each pedal. I don't understand electronics, but you can see why isolating power reduces the noise / electrical problem risk.
