My JD-10 is acting funny.

Last night I was moving pedals around on board and decided to hear how the JD-10 sounded through my ZT Club 12. I hooked everything up and it sounded pretty good, especially with the "classic/rock" button pushed in. But I notice something strange when I disengaged the pedal. I could still here a faint distorted version of the the signal fighting with the clean sound. After hitting the button on again and then off it was just the clean sound of the guitar, everything normal.

After a couple attemps it seemes that if I want to disengage the JD-10 I have to hit the footswitch a few times to get the clean sound back.

Does this sound like a bad footswitch? Or am I looking at a more involved problem?

I know Mr Ward is no longer making the JD10 but has anybody experienced this problem before? And if so, how did you fix it?

I am familiar with this behaviour: I think the switch is faulty, try replacing it.

Thanks. Before I go that route I am going to take the unit apart and give the switch a good cleaning with DeOxit and see if that takes care of the problem. If it doesn't, I guess I have to buy a relative a case of beer to put a new switch in.

Hi again.
Changing the switch is not a big deal with this unit. Have a go!

They have a weird quirk where if you are playing when you switch it on the sound is distorted.

Well you haven't seen my soldering skills.

I would feel much better if my cousin's husband did it since he does this stuff for a living. Electronics I mean.

Well the problem is when you turn off the pedal there is still a faint ghost of a distorted signal bleeding through. After I cleaned the switch I tried it again and it was still there. I really like to get this thing fixed because it sounds great when running through my ZT SS amps.

I should really try to clean up the pots on mine, a few of them are awfully scratchy.

The switch is one of those true bypass ones with six tags on the bottom. I don't have my JD-10 here or I'd look inside for you. I've replaced lots of these switches in busted wah's and er, my JD-10. No biggie, as I believe you say in the USA. it's not rocket surgery if I can do it!
