Blues Pearl Tweed Overdrive Anybody?
Does anyone out there own a blues pearl tweed overdrive pedal? I guess its a boutique that I just picked up brand new for $108 thought I'd try it out. It hasn't arrived yet, so I was just wanting to know what you all thought. I have 4 drives including a distortion so I was just gonna get rid of one and trade it out for this if it was good. what's your guys thoughts?

Just curious... was it $250? (that's the price on the website). Man, overdrive pedals have gotten really expensive lately... I just don't see the need to pay that much for a great overdrive. Everytime a cool-sounding new overdrive come out, it's $200+. I was surprised when Catalinbread's Formula No. 5 (also a tweed overdrive)was only $150.

that's what it said. I got it for $108 +12 for shipping though. I also got the joyo vintage OD for $45 free shipping. Either one is worth a shot I think I can resell for at least the price I bought and sell used, so why not?

I just bought a couple of joyo pedals including the overdrive. I am always on a budget and was looking for something new and inexpensive. Here is a site that previews the sounds of the effects. This along with the price helped convince me to buy a few of the pedals. Let me know what you think of the pedal and I will do the same as soon as I plug them in. Reviving this thread just to warn off anyone tempted by the "tweed" in the pedal's name.
It's awful - horrible, garbagetone, pure marketing BS. I bought it for $60 brand new and returned it the same day. This has a supposed retail price of $350 which is a total joke.

Boy those Blues Pearl cases look suspiciously close to Biyang's stuff...

I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised. It's a very scammy operation. They claim a list price of $359 but you can get 'em for under $100. Their description of the product is also really stupid. The best they can do is say that it's "spot on". Yeah, spot on shyte ;)

Gotta disagree... I love the Blues Pearl Tweed...it is perfect for what I want... No distorted noisy pedal...just a tweedy , creamy , chimey tone that just gooses your amp a little...you can stomp on it for leads and your tone will NOT be compromised...it just boosts the already good tone into a slight tweed overdrive... I kept this one and got rid of a Fulltone OCD, Throbak, and some others... To each his own...but I wouldn't call it scammy by any means... If what you want is a heavy distortion or a heavy colored overdrive...then I can see that you may not like this...I don't like distortion... This is a dirt box for people that USUALLY like to go --Guitar>Cord>Amp. |

I'm glad it works for you telemystix, but what you describe it as is pretty much what I was hoping it would be. The one I got, at least, did nothing of the kind. It mangled the tone of both my 50's tweeds.

"Ha ha you bought a relabeled Biyang!" vs "I don't care if I did get ripped off I like the tone!" A lot of sharks and a lot of fish in the guitar gear world it seems. This particular brand has had a checkered history and a series of different owners. Has anyone looked inside one of these pedals to see what they are? |

Old thread I know but I just scored the Tweed Overdrive box off of ebay for 56 bucks!! I want it to do what you say it did for you. That's all I'm looking for. Here's hoping. It'll be going into my Blues Junior to give it some dirt. Got a wicked deal anyway, I think. |
