Preliminary review of my new H20
UPS dropped off my new H20 pedal Monday, last night I played with it at home to see what it's about.
First of all, it is really nicely put together, solid case, gorgeous paint, bright LEDs, good feel on switches and jacks. I bought it mainly for the delay, but since I play in quite a few different outfits, I thought the chorus would be a plus. My old delay is no longer reliable and I do use the effect here and there. First--the delay has that coldish choppy "digital" sound. It is definitely usable, but not really better than BOSS DL5, DL6 or DOD pedals. The plus is the controls--their action is smooth and quite linear. The level control is especially controllable--a characteristic most delay pedals I've used definitely lack. So, the delay is better than ok, but no world beater. Now, the surprise. The Chorus side is absolutely stunning, full, rich and clear. I find most mono chorus pedals on the thin side, this is not a problem here. The controls are basic (speed, depth, width), but offer a really great range of tones, just about any usable (and some sickening) warble or swoosh tones can be coaxed out of this box. Definitely worth a look, it'll be in my rig for sure. P.
