Any Fulltone lovers here?
I said this in another post, but I finally finished my pedalboard this weekend. I'm getting a VL Pedal Power 2+ this week. Once that's on, I'll post a pic of my board.
Anyway, to my point. I have about 10 pedals on the board, and 3 of them are Fulltone products (FD2, OCD, Supa-Trem). And that does not include the Vox Wah I plan on replacing with the Fulltone Cylde. Are there are any other Fulltone lovers out there? It seems like everyone has their favorite brand, be it Boss, DOD, EH, Analogman, etc. My preference is Fulltone! |

I have a few Fulltone pedals- OCD and Fatboost 1 are the two I use the most.
I'm buying a Clyde Wah next week also.

I don't own any Fulltone pedals but I've seen some demos of the Plimsoul and it really sounds great. Lot's of versatility in that one.

Deja Vibe 2 Stereo and Mini Deja Vibe 2. Both sound great, but I HATE the mechanics of the MDV2, so I'll eventually sell it. I like the older one much better, plus it's stereo and sounds like a dream.

FD2 pre-mosfet (MUST be pre-mosfet) is the greatest OD I've ever owned. Nothing could top it: Klon, KOT, Timmy, Zendrive, 808, the list goes on.
I finally gave up the OD search because I had found MY holy grail with the FD2 pre-mosfet. I did buy a Paisley Drive recently, but for a different use, it's not replacing the FD2. The FD2 & PD are the only 2 ODs I own.

Fulldrive 2 premosfet & fatboost 1 user myself. I'm testing a xotic bb right now that may get replaced w/ an OCD if the bb doesn't pass.
I have a somewhat off topic question...Who is running their Fulltone pedals at 18v? What power supply do you use? What's the sound difference? Has ANYONE tried it & preferred the sound of 9v? |

2 Questions please: 1) Is it true that the "new" FD-2 Mosfet with the Mosfet function OFF, does NOT sound as good as the Pre-Mosfet FD-2? What's the difference between the 2 (if you can describe...) 2) I know the Boost is only active when you are using the OD- how would you describe the boost, is it mainly clean volume or more of a distortion; how is the actual sustain of the boost? Thanks, Joe |

2.) The boost is GREAT! It's before the OD so it doesn't really give much (if any) volume boost. It really could be labeled "more" as it mostly just give you MORE of your OD tone. I should say this is true in the vintage or FM setting, in the Comp Cut setting the boost DOES increase volume but I'll let others comment on how it effects tone as I don't use it in this mode much. I will say that if you're looking for one pedal to cover your needs in country, blues and a little old school rock you'll be hard pressed to find a better pedal. That said it isn't really a "single sized pedal". It's a little on the big side but NOT as big as my old VS Route 66. It's size isn't really an issue for me (even tho I purposefully keep a small pedal board) cause it's function is so amazing I don't really mind the little extra space it uses. |

Put me down as a HUGE lover of the FD2 Mosfet. Can't say enough good things about it. My brother was trying to get me on the Fulldrive II train for years. he had the pre-mosfet though, and I was never impressed with it so I never bought one. I read the website though where Fuller described the Mosfet version as being like a blanket getting lifted off your sound compared to the old one and decided to give it a shot. Glad I did. Most awesome drive box ever.

On the FD2:
neither pre-mosfet or mosfet versions sound "better", excrpt to the individual. The pre-mosfet versions are fatter/thicker/warmer, and I prefer them. The mosfet versions are advertised as "clearer", but I hear "brighter"... too bright for me, and it's a big enough difference that I consider them 2 different pedals. If the only FD2 available was the mosfet version, I personally would use something else... even tho the pre-mosfet version is the greatest OD ever (for me.) I have owned several versions of each. And all at the same time. I was obsessed with the differences in the FUlldrive circuit, so I had them all side-by-side-by-side for a shootout to document the tone differences in the circuits.

I just bought an FD2. I first tried it at one of Jakedogs open mic nights. It sounded great through his Marshall head and 2x12 cab. I've been jonesing for one ever since.
I haven't used mine much yet and it is one of those super versatile pedals where you can spend a year tweeking the knobs to get it just right. I'm using it through a Twin which a totally different beast than the Marshall. It sounds great. It didn't replace my SD-1. I still use that for punchy shuffle type stuff where its not really distorted. |
