Question about compression

Hey guys,

Im running my compression on my pedal poard on full tilt. In doing so, in my mind i feel im maximizing the effect of the pedals leveling out the notes (thus, bringing down the master volume and up as needed). I have been doing this in efforts to smooth the piercing of my tele through my fender frontman. Any alternative suggestions? Am I thinking correctly?

Shouldn't have to do this , is compressor in front of other pedals, lots of dirt pedals? you get screech from them

Hey, thanks for the quick response! I have a boss noise suppressor NS-2, then a rocktron compressor right after, a boss Chromatic Tuner, and lastly a Boss Blues Driver that i only use when needed. On my compressor im maxing out the level, and i have a slow attack as i play mainly country music.

Can't imagine you are getting a pleasing tone with compression at full tilt, compression is best used in moderation particularly when playing clean, leveling the volume lays in your picking technique! The first action to tone down "the piercing of your tele" is to roll of some treble on the guitar, amp,or both. If that fails, perhaps a change of pickups would do the trick.

Try noise suppressor last, compressor second, bluesdriver last, tuner first,

-rocktron an entry level comp, want to upgrade?, I have a really nice, like new , MXR Custom Compressor for sale for 100, including shipping, like a script dynacomp tone, a real upgrade

BB,

I have a blackout deluxe tele, 5 switch, would you suggest a complete change or just pick ups? Which ones would you recommend? Thanks for the advice.

Personally,
I would leave pickups alone, nice guitar, should have more than decent sound, want to do an upgrade that really helps, get a better power cord for your amp if it unplugs, that can make a world of difference, in stereos too

I think the vol. and tone controls on your guitar will get you most of the way there. A lot of people crank them and leave them, but they are there for a reason.

Put the Noise Suppressor in the chain the way the instructions show you. I've played around with it, but the Boss way seems best.
