Black friday pedal plans?

I got the GC ad and it seems they have the MXR "Classic Distortion" for $39 I may grab one. I've owned one in the past but sold it cause I just wasn't using it much but for $40 it's not a bad backup I guess, we'll see.

Any other great BF deals we've heard about?

What are your pedal/gear plans for the big day??

I'm going to go to GC and eat a free doughnut and check the pedal case.

I had some paypal cash set aside but I got a Sam Ash one day 20% off anything email last week and I bought a VOX Lil' Night Train mini stack for $260.

I'm done.

I like to go to the nutty Guitar Center events just to look around. They always seem to have an odd deal of two that catch my eye.

My 15% off coupon is sitting in the car.

If I can get the $$ together I would like to get something that is just totally different from any dirt pedal I own (I have 3-4 OD's that I like fine, but they are all similar), but would be something I will use on gigs- so for me that would be a Fuzz Face type...Also interested in the new MXR '74 Phase 90 or Phase 45

Not to get too off topic, but how does it sound?

i'm hoping to make it out to pick up one of the Classic Distortions. I grabbed two of the Classic Overdrives back earlier this year, one for my big board as a boost and one for my main OD on my "small board." i'd love to grab the Classic Distortion for the 2nd drive on he small board. i hate big crowds though, so hopefully they'll still have some later in the day.

I heard Sam Ash is doing the Zakk Wylde pedal for 30 bucks, but there's not one near me and i'm not sure if the deal works online. i really just don't think i could take myself serious with that pedal on my board though, purely out of principle and vanity...

I would not mind getting a second MXR Classic Distortion if my GC has them. The one I have is "bright" modded and I'm glad I did that; but I would not mind having a stock one at all too!

If I get anything, it's a delay or an EHX Signal Pad, but a friend just let me borrow his GT6, so I'm covered for most everything.

I was looking at the "doorbuster" deals they're going to have, and they're probably the most sorry I've ever seen for a major GC sale..a lot of utter junk you should not buy at any price, like that Gem Sound garbage and those threefer microphones with the same crappy element as in every brand-X Chinese dynamic in the $1-$15 street range.

They've raised their usual sale price of the "Classic Distortion" by ten bucks.

[And...am I the only one noticing the horribly stagflated gear prices everywhere recently?]

Just sad.

I agree!!! That was part of my thinking starting this thread. Seems like a pretty sad "mega sale" and I was wondering if anyone had heard of any better deals that weren't as advertised.

I'm wondering if they'll have more stuff for cheap that they don't advertise, tho that doesn't make ANY sense to me.

The Classic Distortion was only available last thanksgiving though, so it's not like it's a regular run pedal that they raised the price 10 bucks. plus, the Distortion III is $100, so 40 bucks is still a decent deal to me.

I bought it at least two years ago, and it wasn't a new item then, according to the Accessories manager at GC.

It's a better pedal than the "Classic Overdrive," I will say that for it.

Nope, it's not just you. Some of the GC sales are actually the average price for the items. It's the same with all major retailers. They're trying to give the illusion of a lower price without actually lowering anything.

The clearance section of MF has had the same junk in it for 6 months and the same price it was before it was even on clearance.

I'll be finally getting an EHX holy grail nano for GC on Friday, it'll be my first reverb pedal.

I hope that they have more going on at the store. That list is a "sneak peak" list but it doesn't get me very excited.

Last year they had the Vintage Mahogany Les Pauls for $699 with hard cases...they had a pallet full of them and they were selling. They had lots of pedal deals also. They seem to be taking more pedals in trade lately. I'll look at used stuff and new.

I bought a Classic Distortion last year during the Memorial Day sale. It was $29 then. This year, if you use your 15% off coupon, it ends up costing about $33. It's actually a really sweet pedal, but more of an overdrive than a distortion.

I already did the Music123 "23% of the difference" sale to get the Hardwire CM-2 Tube Overdrive for $54.72 shipped. The deal is that Music123 will not only match any authorized retailer's price, but also exceed the match by 23%. I used Amazon (26th Street Music) with a price of $63.98 versus Music123 $99.99. Win.

I can see myself going off the deep end on this getting a Phase 90 ($79.99 at M123 and currently $63.16 at Amazon, for a total of around $58.00) and a reverb pedal. Oh yeah, and I might hit Sam Ash's Black Friday sale and get a Roadworn Tele for $699.00 (no word on the color availability). I'd get the Zakk Wylide Overdrive for $29.99 from Sam Ash but I already have the MXR Classic Overdrive.

Lying Scumbag M123 "Price Matching"

This is pretty much a crock.

"Guaranteed" lowest price means what it always means with price matching: "ONLY IF WE FEEL LIKE IT!"

It's totally bad faith. They're lying scumbags and you can tell 'em I said so.

I've been trying for the past week to get them to match BestBuy.Com's price on a Pitchblack, which is only twenty bucks less, and BB is an authorized Korg dealer (Amazon is not). Music123 did what they always do when cornered. They simply refuse to answer the request.

I've sent eight (8).

They're apparently trying to outwait the sale, because I've got them dead to rights otherwise.

I did luck out and got some clueless new hire to actually do what they promised and he did the actual 123 price match (above) on a new bass, but as soon as they found out upstairs, they pulled their stock from search, claimed the SamAsh.Com price was a clearance sale and they wouldn't match the price, and at least two other variations on welshing on their deal.

Several of us on TalkBass have been comparing notes on the item, which is a good thing to do.

I think I was the last one to actually get a shipped bass at the price.

I've been through this same baloney with MF, GC, SA and a few others. Sometimes you luck out, sometimes (usually) they welsh if it's significant money.

"Guaranteed" means exactly nothing. Zero.

I agree that it could be considered a crock if you don't get a response, but it took all of 1 minute to submit the request. I actually got a response in 2 minutes, and ordered the pedal in another minute. For $54.

While frustrating if you don't get a response, I can think of a million other things that would actually upset me. Not getting a pedal for $9 cheaper than some other place ranks pretty low on my list of concerns. If $9 makes a difference in me buying the pedal, I really shouldn't be buying the pedal either way.
