Problems with my Boss RC-2 Looper...

Yeah, so it's been making a high pitched sound every time I have it on and you can also very quietly hear the track you're on in the background. I now often completely take it off my board just because I can't stand the noise. Is there something I can do about this?

Did this just start happening?

Are you using the proper power supply unit?

This has been happening for a while, and I've used several different types of power supplies to see if it makes a difference and it makes the same noise every time.

Are you using the Boss PSA adapter?

Have you tried a battery also?

Those are the only ideas I have. You might want to send it back to Boss for repair.

From the Boss website:

Service Options
If you need to have your product serviced, you have two options: You can use our Service Center Locator to find an authorized BOSS Service Center in your area, or you can send the unit directly to our service department in Los Angeles.

If you'd like to order replacement parts or send your product to our service department in Los Angeles for repair, please call Customer Service at 323-890-3700. Customer Service is available Mon-Fri, 8:30am to 5pm Pacific Standard Time.

Good luck. I'd be interested to hear what finally happens in case my RC-2 develops the same problem.

Did you buy this froma brick and mortor store or online? I would takie it back to where you bought and exchange it for another, that is if you are still within "returns parameters".

I read that the noise is caused by using a daisychain power supply. Try it with an independent power supply (if you're using a multiple one) or, as suggested above, with batteries.

I sometimes have trouble with mine not starting when I stomp it, but rather going into "autostart mode." When I contacted Boss, they referenced the power supply (I'm using a daisy-chained One-Spot). I may try just using the battery as an experiment to see what happens. No high-pitched whine, though (unless my three-year-old is in the room).

I bought this pedal new from Guitar Center. I'll try it with just the Boss PSA by itself, but I doubt that will make a difference. Chances are, I'll send this thing to Boss for repairs.

I use my RC-2 with a Boss PSA with no problems.

If you "just" bought it from Guitar Center (assuming your still within the allowable return time) why not exchange it for another one?

my RC-2 made terrible noises with daisy-chained power from my TU-2

everything is now calm and quiet with a voodoo lab power supply
