NPD!! Bought a VS Route 808

to go with my newly acquired Fender Super-Sonic amp! This is a great pedal! I didn't know I could get that kind of overdrive with such clarity. I tried 5 other pedals and went with this one based solely on the sound over and OCD, Boss Bluesdriver, Boss Overdrive, Marshall Guv'nor and Bluesbreaker

Congrats on your NPD! I've heard good things about this pedal, but have yet to play it. Is this the same pedal that's in the Route 66?

How would you rate this pedal for rhythm and boost lead work? Also, did you get a chance to try out the Visual Sound Open Road Overdrive? I'm looking into another overdrive pedal for some smoother amp-like drive.

Congrats! I've had 2. I prefer the older silver models to the newer funky red version 4. The newer models are a bit hotter than the older units.

Yes, this is the same circuit as the overdrive side of the Route 66. It's basically a tubescreamer with a switchable bass boost. The bass boost gets kinda muddy for rhythm playing, but it's good if you play lead on the lower strings. I use mine for rhythm mostly (but with the bass boost off).

That's a great pedal! Nice score!

My favorite VS overdrive is the Open Road.

Good choice ,I love the rt66 ,I didn't know about the rt808, I saw that they have the comp available separatley ,yeah I dont see much use for the bass boost unless You want a Humbucker tone from singlecoils ,it does that pretty well.I might have to look into that because I love both sides of the rt 66 one at a time but it gets a bit noisy when I use both together.Try out their compressor too,I love it.

Nice pedal,,,really nice amp, I think if I were to get another amp that would be the one...like the idea of going between Vibrolux and Bassman voicing, and though I don't really play hard overdrive,,that Burn Channel is really freaking nice sounding...congrats on all your fine gear!

I use the Rt 66 V1...very nice pedal. The OD is a touch dark, but so smooth. It doesn't get into heavy gain at all which is perfect for me. Seems to have less gain than most 808 clones. The bass boost is too much for my set up, but I'm sure if you had a really bright guitar and amp it would be very useful. I really dig the comp side...always on for me...adds sparkle and clarity...which really surprised me.

I'm now wondering "where do I go from here?" I guess a compressor, phaser, flanger, chorus, delay plus tuner would be a good start up pedal board, right?

Yep!

Then after that you need to get your Uni-Vibe

Congrats on the new pedal. Enjoy!

I just bought the 808 also. I listenend to the open road vs the 808 on youtube and the open road sounded too bright to me. I got this to stack with my analogman ts9...can't wait to hear them together...

cheers ce24

all depend on wath kind of music you play but, tuner> O/D> compressor> delay, is on the right track for country for sure

The Comp 66 is a really great compressor. Quiet, well made and the tone control makes it very versatile for different guitars and amps...or go old school and bypass the tone...great buffer too.

Yeah...I'm glad I was able to get a new V1 because I really like the styling better than the V2...and I don't have any of the noise issues people complained about...it's all in how you use it.

I find the OD to be one of the smoothest around. It doesn't have a ton of dirt or gain, and it is a little on the dark side(I have to run the tone at 3 o'clock)but I've really come to love it.

The comp, forget 'bout...it's just awesome...really enhances my tone and tightens me up just a touch. I run the compression at about 10 o'clock and the tone at noon(just like in my pic above...Phase 90 is off, Dano CC-1 is back on)). The only comp I've ever used that actually does add "sparkle", and doesn't take away too much hi end, low end or dynamics.

Simply a great 2 in 1 pedal.

I tried the V1 H2O but wasn't that excited. I like my Dano CC-1 chorus MUCH better and the echo side was a bit weird. Odd decay and artifacts IMO.

I guess when I saw this, it was just a matter of time (yeah I'm a sucker):
