I've been on an Ibanez pedal kick here lately.....

Hi all. I guess it all started like this.... Here's my normal giggin' pedalboard:

Now see, my TS-9 is one of the oldies. It's been with me forever and I just love it. I've been looking for a back up for it for awhile now just in case it dies. Well after a lot of listen to different pedals, I got this TS-10 for a great deal.

The Ibanez Soundtank 60's Fuzz is a good sounding little fuzz. I have a Brian Friend Fender Blender/EH LPB-1 pedal I use now, when I want that sound, but the Ibanez Soundtank fits on my board so it's still there.

I really really like my DM-3. It's great! AND you'll notice that all my pedals fit on my board all nice and orderly....but man I heard one of those Ibanez AD-99's and fell for it. Great pedal, but it needs a power supply (no batteries for this one) and is kinda big.

I got the Ibanez CS-505 for free. It was broken and I just had to get it fixed. No problem. There's a feller in Houston who fixes them so I'm in it 40 bucks. Here's the thing with this one....it's an 18v pedal! SO I had to get a Dano power supply and splice the headphone jack style connecter on it to make it work ~ and it does!

The newest is this old Ibanez CP-835. Man it's a great sounding Compressor! (I know, you either like them or you don't) It's a 9v, but the adapter is one of those crazy headphone jack ones, so I gotta find me one or make another one!

Well these have been my 'at the house' pedals. But now I'm thinkin' these should be my 'at the house & at the gig' pedals.

Too bad I can't get a power supply for all of these!

There's just something great about these Ibanez pedals! I can't play their guitars with those Floyd Roses, but I sure like the sounds of their pedals!

That's a nice set! Sure they're nice pedals! But people seem to have discovered them, including the 10 series, and prices seem to go up. My favourite Ibanez pedal at the moment is the Mostortion from the 10 series.

You're right they make some good stuff. I bought my Ibanez SC10 Super Stereo Chorus, used, from a local bargain newspaper, about 15 years ago for probably 20 bucks. It's still on my pedal board and still works great. I've never tried another chorus and I probably won't until this thing dies.

I'm a Boss/Roland man mostly. But I too share a secret love of certain Ibanez pedals. For instance, I recently got a PH7 Phaser (Tone Loc Series) for Free from a friend only to discover it totally kicks ass! It's almost as full and square as my Electro Harmonix Vintage Phaser. Almost

Heh heh...I've been using one of those Ibanez PH-9 (I think?) phasers for awhile. Plus I bought myself an Ibanez Soundtank digital delay awhile back...nice and warm sounding, not clicky and antiseptic like most digitals are.

Nice set up! I've got two TS-9's, an early 80's model and a re-issue and they both sound great. My favorite overdrive pedal at the moment :)

If you can see my avatar, I love those old 8 series pedals...
There is a 9v adapter out there for pignose amps that works just fine with the old ibanez pedals. The 18v are more rare and take some extra work but its worth it.
cool score!

Thanks fellas!

I'm liking this set-up pretty good! The compressor sounds a lot like my BOSS DM-3.

Tenstrings - looks like you've got a nice collection of the older square knob Ibanez's. Got any bigger pics of them?

Somewhat related...

Has anyone tried the reissued SC9 or TS808? I am considering adding either or both of these pedals to my board...worth the money?

Those pedals are awesome BTW and I want to find a Soundtank, TS10, ST 4 knob one, and TS7 if I get enough look to collect them. I don't delude myself that I will every find an original TS808 or OD pedal of any sort within a decent price or working condition.

As you can tell I'm a bit of a TS freak, but I love the pedal. It is definately a great effect to have two of them on your pedal board.

I dont use pedals all that much, but they are fun to fool around with.

TS's

I have an 80's TS10 in my line up... I have been thinking about getting a TS 808 reissue... a Maxon OD 808, or a TS9 RI... I haven't tried any of them... I really love my TS10 though...

Great stuff fellers!

TenStrings - Great collection...and not just pedals! Nice gear. Man, I'd love to someday tackle the Steel.

Moonshiner - I've used an early 80's TS-9 for the last 10 or 15 years, great pedal and the reissues sound great as well. I've not heard the TS-808 RI yet.

Jerry - What does your pedal look like?

Racehorse - I used a Dano 18v power supply and cut the end off of the proper adapter and it works great, but I really like the idea of that Dunlop brick ~ thanks!

Can we have a party at tenstrings house??? Please????

What a nice collection!

I'm 40 years old. I was therefore a teenager when Ibanez was making the lawsuit LesPauls (we all had them, the Strats also). This was probably the thing that started my facination with the Ibanez pedals. I have not owned an Ibanez guitar in17 years but I love the old pedals.

I have a reissue 9 series TS9 - I think that they're geat. I have an old CS9 best chorus ever and the old FL9 and the PS9 phaser. I went on a kick collecting the 5 series off e-bay (the Plastic sound tanks). The EM5 Echomachine is super warm, I was offered $120 for mine (I paid $40 a long time ago). I think that the 5's are a great sounding sleeper pedal. I've seen the CS5 chorus sell on ebay for as little as $5.00 plus shipping. The AW5 auto wah is another fun one. I have 5 or 6 of the soundtanks.

I think that the Ibanez pedals have a true group of followers. I worked in a nice music store in college; 1982 - 1985. I have a large box of 80's literature in my home (I collect guitar literature). I listed several pieces of 80's literature on e-bay about 16 months ago. The Ibanez 9 series tri-fold with a tiny picture of each pedal and a description of each pedal brought $47. The opening bid on each piece of literature was $10 and the "9" book went up to $47. I had Fender Bullet books and the Master Fender catalog from 1982 and the bidding ended in the low $20's on the Fender books.

Very interesting stuff.

Tenstrings needs a safety deposit box for those 808's - wow!

John
