Boss Dynamic Wah / Guyatone Wah Rocker

I had a wah pedal, just not my thing. However, I recently saw Jonny Lang using a Boss Dynamic Wah, and it was really interesting, so I thought I might give it a try.

I'm not looking to spend alot, this is just an experiment, so while I've heard pedals like the Mad professor Snow White & the Emma Discombobulator are the best, they are WAY out of my price range. Looking at the Boss Dynamic Wah, and the Guyatone WR-3 Wah Rocker.

Any love/hate/eh for these two?

Don't count out the MXR Auto Q.

I've heard nothing but good things about it, but I'm looking cheap & small. $130 isn't expensive, but it's $30 more than the boss & $50 more than the Guyatone. Plus the MXR is double the size.

Gotcha. Well - if it was only $30 more and I reaaaally enjoyed it, I think I'd go for it . But of course if you're after size too, the MXR might not do it.

Same price as the MXR - have you looked at the ModTone Funk Filter?

I did- but the demo video on the ModTone site was pretty awful. I know you can't use videos to judge everything, but when that's all you've got...

Yeah - GearManDude has a demo up that was pretty decent.

I play a tele, and "very bright and snappy" and "had to turn the tone knob down on my tele", seals the deal for me... not my bag.

When I had a wah, I preferred the DARKER side of my MXR MC-404 CAE.

guyatone wr-3

Had a wr-3 once and it was a keeper ( that I sold! ),very vocal and mutron -like. Way better than the boss aw-2,aw-3 or dynamic filter, all of which I tried over the years. Hope that helps. You might want to look for an old DOCTOR-Q
on ebay,I got a 78' for $45.00 and it sounds great, especially before a light overdrive. The old DOD FX-25's are killer too! [not the later fx25B model]
