Spaghetti Western Fuzz

I recently got this.

It's not incredibly versatile and I doubt it'd work well as an all-purpose fuzz, but for my style of music (surf meets spaghetti western) it's perfect. A couple of quick and dirty demos:

damn, that thing sounds great. reminds of a foxx tone machine, but without sustain. it really nails that silly 50's western tone. i may have to get one of those. bigfootfx seems like a really cool company. the two pedals they make both seem highly original in this world of tweaked tubescreamers and fuzzfaces.

Any gut shots of this one? Do you know what kind/how many transistors they're using?

I haven't checked, but another guy who bought one at the same time said it's gooped.

On the website it says "It's closer to the sound of the earlier fuzzes like the fuzzrite, companion fuzz, and others." I wonder if it's based on one of those.

The sound is pretty great for what it is (based on your clips) and I've been trying unsuccessfully so far to make a fuzz that sounds similar. I've been close but not quite there yet. Closest so far was a Orpheum fuzz but it was not actually sustainy enough and the EQ is not quite right.

Even if it's gooped it would be nice to see a gut shot.

I was looking at that too but after I bought the Ashbass FuzzBrite I pretty much had the fuzz I wanted and for $105 a bargin. The trick with them is to turn down the volume of your guitar to get the right "zzzzz" like Nokie Edwards gets on "Swinging Creeper".

Sounds good. Anybody a fan of My Name IS Nobody? Got it when I was 6 or 7 and still love it, and the music in it as well.

For sure. Although, I reckon if half of us cranked back the guitars vol knob and/ or used an eq pedal, then there'd only be half as many fuzz pedals around

The Spaghetti still sounds pretty sweet though!

It appears to be true direct goop to goop.

I've been listening to clips of the Shin-ei Companion Fuzz and the Fuzzrite, as well as the Maestro FZ1. None of them seem to get this sound. The Shin-ei is too saturated, the Fuzzrite is too brash and the Maestro is too thick. I'm sure under all that goop it's a very simple circuit with a few transistors like most old fuzz designs, but it doesn't seem to be based on any of those, at least from the sound. I'm afraid to try to degoop this thing in case there really isn't a circuit board under there - the goop could be holding everything together!

Yeah, I'm not a fan of gooping either.

Well, if I didn't know ahead of time buying it that it was gooped, I might be disappointed. But that's what forums like this are for, right?

Goop or no goop it seems like a cool pedal.
