Does that make sense? Like I said, I'm always very open to new suggestions and I welcome them. I'd never heard of 'Love' or Frisell until recently and I adore both of them now! I don't think I'm close-minded....just selective, is all.

Well it depends on your definition of 'sense'. I think that most fans of classic rock and country, like me, love the whole alt.country thing. Bands like Uncle Tupelo, Jayhawks, Bottle Rockets, Son Volt, Wilco, Neko Case..... There's a ton and it's great! IMHO

But if you're into Lo-fi I'd highly recommend Guided by Voices. They had quite the career. Another mellow one that I like is Mojave 3. Though you might be turned off by the 'production'. And I've been listening to Monsters of Folk (Conan Oberst and Jimmie James from Bright Eyes and My Morning Jacket respectively) And the newest Built to Spill album is a guitar lovers dream. All of this is of course IMHO.

So, not trying to say anything negative, but it sounds as though alot of stuff has passed you by. Magazines like Blurt and Pitchfork are very good!

Good luck!

Digitch Bad Monkey - $29 used on ebay
EH Memory Toy Analog Delay - $49 used on ebay
Boss TR-2 Tremolo - $59 used in ebay

I would just chip away at the list via ebay. Won't take long.

I llistened to those and really couldn't stand any of them. Way too pop-y I guess. I dunno. Still, I like being exposed to new music, 'cause ya never know what you're gonna find.!

In case you didn't notice Uncle Tupelo, Son Volt, and Wilco are different combinations of the same people in different time frames (80's to present day)

This is a very small sample of hundreds of songs put out over the years..

I noticed but I don't see how that matters. I love the Grateful Dead but don't listen to anything after 1990. Same guys (almost), different sound that I don't like.

It is a small sample but, well, it's like an audition. You only get three songs (or whatever). If I feel bad after those chances are it's not gonna feel any better later.

I'm a big Jay Farrar fan he's in Son Volt, and Uncle Tupelo. Green on Red/Chuck Prophet is another one to check out.

Tone Candy Sweet Drive. Got it at a discount at a guitar show in Santa Monica last time it was there. I love the sound I can get with it. Pretty close to the EJ sound on one of the clean settings on my Flextone III with this pedal.

I'm still here! I got my OS-2 day before yesterday and love it. Don't need the heavy distortion and the OD is perfect with the BJ. I am looking at delays now but I think the MXR Carbon Copy is what Santa is bringing me.

I recently removed everything from my board that I could live without, and here's what's left: my Barber TonePress (compressor), my Carl Martin Red Repeat (delay), and my BBE Sonic Maximizer, which I could probably live without if I had to.

* Carl Martin DelayLa XL
* MXR Carbon Copy

Toss in a wah pedal as well. Love the spot on the wah that bumps the mids and gives you massive feedback on (delayed) demand.

If you're into that whole alt.country trip you better have a tremolo pedal if you're using a Blues Jr. Just get a Boss TR-2 if you still have that GC coupon and like Fez says get you a tuner (Boss TU-2) while you're there and use it to power the trem pedal.

Have fun

My must haves:

MXR Dyna Comp
OD...either SRB808+ or Boss SD-1
Delay...I use a Tech 21 Boost DLA(which I love) but any delay you like...I also like the Ibanez DL10 or Delay II....I'm sure a Carbon Copy would be cool too.

I can get along with just these through a nice, warm, clean amp...don't care what it is. These 3 pedals will make any amp a home.

I don't consider a tuner...that kinda goes without saying. I use a Pitchblack...perfect for me.

If you've got the OS-2, get the Carbon Copy. There's little much else I'd say need.

The OS-2 is a really good pedal that doesn't get much notice because it's in-between distortion and overdrive. It's a fantastic pedal.

Carbon Copy, Excellent!

All I can say is some modulation of some kind maybe Phaser/Flanger/Chorus, a Wah pedal, maybe a volume pedal, or maybe a tremolo. I say shop around get a feel for each one and what suits you.

Right now for guitar it's just Flanger to DS-1 to Carbon Copy.

The essentials, and I believe to be the best (which means you will pay): Fulltone OCD for overdrive/distortion. Without question, the most versatile pedal when it comes to touch and dynamics. There is no other pedal, distortion or otherwise, that I have played that is so responsive to HOW I am playing. The second essential is the MXR Carbon Copy. For it's price range, nothing compares to it when looking for a wide range of quality delay options. The key here being "quality." That's it. While I have other pedals, those are my two best friends in the pedal world. They are strong, reliable and speak only when spoken to.

I think you're going to really like the OS-2. The distortion isn't great, but the overdrive is pretty good, and the ability to blend the two sounds is pretty cool. I used that pedal for a loooong time.

Sounds like you've picked a decent delay. Some modulation is always nice to have. I have a really old Ibanez chorus that I don't use on my board anymore (switch physically broke after owning it for ~15 years), that sounds really great. I switched up to Electro Harmonix Small Clone, which is a nice sounding pedal, but if I had it to do again, I'd probably go for a Clone Theory for the extra tweakability. If you don't need that the nano version is really inexpensive.

I'm a huge phaser fan. Most folks will tell you to get the MXR Phase 90, but that just didn't do it for me. I've had an EHX Small Stone forever and I absolutely love it.

Good luck!

Radial tonebone trimode or hot british, depends on what you have for an amp, I use the hot british to drive a fender 40w blues deluxe, great range of tone, without excessive volume. The fender just does not break up nicely at reasonable small venue volumes, but does have that nice ringing fender clean tone. I've never heard it through a SS amp though so I don't know how much is the pedal, and how much is just overdriving the fender pre-amp.

Hermida Zendrive and my Barber Tonepress. I am pretty attached to my Carl Martin Delayla too. All Must Haves in my opinion.
